They'd simply hang onto him. No reason to trade him for a 4th to their biggest rival when he'd probably turn it around with their roster. The fan base would revolt more than they already are.

The leverage is that every other playoff bound team that can afford him would offer more than this.

Having said that, I don't think Hall goes for what he's fetched before, but this offer is absurd.

Hall isn't good enough to make a great team like the Leafs better the Leafs should just stand pat Buffalo should trade Hall to the Oilers or WPG for a 4th and a 6th those teams need help against the monster Leafs .

I really don't know if there is a fit for Hall to the Leafs, but certainly he gets more than what you offered. In almost any deal to contender, for cap reasons, the Sabres retain half and about 3m or so has to sent back to the Sabres.
