Well if you are paying almost triple his value pretty sure they won’t refuse.

I don’t think so. Garland is a legitimate 1st line winger who drives play at both ends of the ice. He produces in a system that stifles offense so he’d be perfect for the isles lol

If you want Garland for that price, you'll lose a lot more than what you're willing to give up in that trade. There's no way the Islanders can sign Garland along with their own RFAs Beau, Sorokin, Pelech and Dal Colle. So one or two of them will have to go. They've likely already lost Cizikas to free agency unless he's willing to take a huge pay cut.

My guess is he was there to look at one of three players. Marleau, who he's already picked up and over payed before, Brassard who he's already familiar with or quite possibly Sorenson. Of course I'm only guessing and have no clue, but I can't see Garland on his radar.

It's more likely that Ken was looking at Goligoski than any of the Yotes forwards.

So, NYI didn't have a 1st or a 2nd last year, have very little in terms of prospect pool and you're offering this years 1st and 2nd, next years 1st and 2nd and a fwd prospect and D prospect... yea, ok.

He's legit kinda worth that ultimately 😐

It just scares me though a purely skilled player

Arizona is a defense 1st team and garland is still extremelt effective. I think he’d mesh well with barzal

Didn't say he wasn't. That price though, he is not for the NYI. if that were really the price, CAR or COL, who have a young team and great prospect pool are the teams that would be in a on him.
That kind of move for the islanders, all of those high pieces for 1 player is not their move.
I'm not against making a big move. I'm not against trading picks or prospects, just not everything you have to move for 1 player.

I still think it’s worth it because we’re not giving up Dobson, wahlstrom, beau or sorokin. It is highly unlikely those picks turn out to be better than garland and we’d lock him up long term. I’m not a fan of giving up picks + prospects for forsberg because he’s only signed for another year and he’ll likely walk, but garland is a star and he’s still young.

Ha I’ve made it known that I don’t want to give up a 1st for a rental - only for a young player with term. How often is a 25 year old budding star who fits this system perfectly on the trade market? There are exceptions.

Lol fair enough. If they gave it up for Garland they would be fine without a 1st rounder for a few years, their top lines would be set and would only need bottom Pair D and 3rd/4th liners. (assuming 13, 18, 26, 27, 29, 44, and Garland & 3, 6, 8 and Salo)
