No way do you trade Helleson for a 3C, Wood is a massive overpay he is Compher. Wood .37ppg, Compher 0.4 ppg, CF% Wood 46.7, Compher .48, Compher has a better career xG diff, so why in the world would you send a 1st rd pick and Compher to get Wood. Bro just embrace the ginger it’s ok, it won’t hurt you 😉
Savard, just why? And please don’t say because he is physical. The Avs force the play their way who can play with them, TBL not Vegas as demonstrated on Friday night, and with a healthy lineup (minus EJ) Savard isn’t playing top 4 minutes. Also with an expected flat cap for the next 3 or 4 years those ELC’s are gold to be able to plug into the bottom 6 and 3rd pairing.

i think sakic is pretty happy with the defense. maybe a bottom pair d. if the price is low enough i think he might chase hall. all depends on if the avs can stay healthy.

Dater (for what it is worth) said the Avs are not in on Hall at all. Only way I see a d is if somebody else gets hurt, or McDonald’s play really tails off.

sakic allegedly checked in in on hall last year and hall's price is allegedly down this year.

Trading a first for Wood to end up scratching PEB and LOC seems like a bad idea. I'm not even sure it makes the team any better.

How much more do you think it would take to get Dallas to accept?

1st + Compher for Wood is probably too much. After thinking it over it would only make sense if NJ were sending back a pick or two. Something like Compher + 1st for Wood + 2nd + 4th maybe. Avs not having a 2nd round pick makes it a bit awkward to balance value.

As for 3C, what would be your offer for Faksa? He'd be a perfect fit for this team and has a good contract too.

Miles Wood might not be a huge upgrade on Compher but his combination of size and speed would be more of what this team needs in the bottom 6. Anyways, I do agree that this is too much for Wood, which is why I revised this offer in my next Wood-AGM to be Compher + 1st for Wood + 2nd + 4th. Something like that would probably be fairer.

Savard isn't just because he's physical, but that is certainly a factor. It doesn't sound like EJ is going to be back anytime soon, and even if and when he returns this season he's going to be super rusty. Adding another big RHD would round out our D group perfectly. He's also an upgrade on MacDonald who has started to show some cracks in the last couple of games.

What do you think would be a fair offer for Wood?

How about Compher + COL 2021 1st for Wood + NJ 2022 2nd + NJ 4th 2021? A 2nd straight up for Wood might be the easiest trade, but Avs lack 2nd rounders in the next two drafts.

I don't think he's been brought in to be anything more than a stopgap 3G. Neither Werner or Miska have proved to be good enough to be the teams 3G, so even if Francouz or a backup is acquired you're still going to want a better 3G than Miska/Werner. I'd be very surprised if Sakic doesn't make a move for a backup at the deadline, unless of course Francouz is going to return miraculously and play himself into form by the playoffs.

I don't think Hall is what this team needs. Sakic made his move for a top 6 forward when he acquired Saad. A Coleman-like forward would be more fitting than Taylor Hall.

Regarding a Dman, MacDonald's play has been terrible the last two games against Vegas which is concerning. Johnson isn't expected back anytime soon so right now with a healthy lineup MacDonald is the 6D, where ideally he should be the 7D. Bringing in another shutdown-type RHD would restore balance to the D group (though that doesn't need to be an expensive addition like Savard, it could also be someone cheaper like Braun for instance).

I wonder what the price for Ullmark would be at the deadline. If he's available he'd certainly be a good alternative for us, alongside Bernier and Reimer. Having numerous options will hopefully keep the price down a bit.

Yeah in hindsight 1st + Compher for Wood was probably hastily expensive. If Sakic thinks Jost is enough as 3C then I could see him making a move for Wood and skipping a move for a 3C. That would keep Bellemare in the lineup, and O'Connor would be the teams 13F just as he is now effectively.

3c would be the ideal add imo. but aside from donskoi the bottom six isn't scoring either. if hall comes in that bumps bura or saad down which then would make the 3rd line a real threat,

agree with you on the d. i just dont think they go the expensive route.

hard to say. he's a good player on a good contract. i don't think dallas would sell to be honest. i think they likely think this season was an anomaly and want to get right back to contending next season.

he would be an amazing add but i think it's probably through the roof. if the avs could extend ullmark and make a gruby ullmark platoon for a couple years that would be amazing but likely overkill.

Well interesting assessment on Werner since he has played zero games which I find a little telling. The back up goalie whomever it is, is going to get 3-4 at absolute most 5 more starts and of course ZERO starts in the playoffs. It is very puzzling what the actual status of Francouz is, is the Johansson move proof that Francouz is close to being ready or is it crazy to think Johansson is someone they like enough going forward.
