Why? Normally I’d think this is an expansion move, but they already have Samsonov, Vanecek, & Copley who meet the exposure requirements. I don’t know why they’re signing someone that played in the ECHL this year to a 2 year extension.

His AHL numbers are great this season, better than Copley's. They're probably thinking he'll be the AHL guy until one of their prospects starts to pan out.

Yeah. It’s weird to me to give an AHLer a multi-year deal, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised given the contract they gave Copley after less than a year in the NHL.

The Hershey Bears are run as a team built for success with lots of AHL vets and AHL/NHL tweeners
