It actually does work because there’s less bonus on the books. Long term, maybe not so much.

it would work for this season but we have to resign him and buch and then zibby next year the only way this could work in the long run is trading trouba somehow

All the buyout money, smith, JJ, ADA is close to 25M. Then move Geo when we need to. I could be done. Laine and Zibby would have to take 7-8M deals though and knowing how stacked we would be for cup runs might be incentive enough

Well with Laine that would bring more scoring. Now I saw you were talking about the buyouts, but if you look at it... Kevin Shattenkirks buyout goes from 6.08M to 1.43M. You will save 4.65M. Also Henrik Lundqvist’s buyout goes from 5.5M to 1.5M. You will save 4M. You now would have a extra 8.65M in cap space for this off season on top of the cap that you already have. Laine makes 5M right now, so let’s say he wants 8M (not sure how much he wants). He would use 3M more of the cap, so that would shrink to 5.65M of the extra cap. Buchnevich takes 5M let’s say. He’s getting 3.25M right now so, that would be 1.75M extra on his contract, so that would leave you 3.9M in cap left over from the buyouts.

Yup. You’re missing the 4M from smith, 4M+ for ADA, 1M for JJ. If needed could trade Georgiev at 2.5M. So tons of space up front. The concern is 3 years from now

That’s true! You would want to hope you can trade DeAngelo 50% next year, and save a bit, or burry him. We will have to see, but in 3 years, you should be okay, especially if the cap goes up.

Id say we need to add Schneider to the deal but it shouldn’t be a no from a team who absolutely can’t compete and Laine isn’t working out as well as planned. Instant rebuild by moving Laine for this and moving a few other pieces out while keeping guys like Bjorkstrand and Texier. Got the G already and decent D core. Laine isn’t the elite guy unless he is surrounded by Elite. CBJ doesn’t have anything close to elite for Laine to feed off. Keeping him is a mistake unless you go after some big players...

We can't compete? We are 3 points out of the playoffs and we've made it 4 years in a row. This is just a really bad deal. Just because a team isn't playing well doesn't mean they should just give up their players. Kakko is an okay start but the rest is garbage. Kykov isn't even a big prospect. Kakko, Zac Jones, and a pick would be a better start. Please remember Laine is a RFA too not a UFA at the end of this year.

3 points out of playoffs, sure. You’re under.500 with a big negative GD. You’re team is full of Meh players that only get you into playoffs from work ethic. You don’t have a proper supporting cast to help Laine hit 40G. Sure, swap Jones in. I know he is a RFA but most feel he won’t want to stay there which is why the idea has come up. How many times has he been benched now? 3? The way I see it you should fill more holes with youth and then find some elite players to come and to be honest I think Bjorkstrand can hit 35-40G every year if he has someone better than Domi to play with

This coming from a NYR fan is hilarious. You are in the same boat...........but 4 point out of the playoff and lots of talent. It's not about the cast IMO it's about the coach right now. Torts is a tough guy to play for. They are trying to turn him into a 200 foot player not just a guy who stands at one spot. Not sure that's going to work out but that's what's happening you either need to watch more or read more. Being a RFA he doesn't have an option. He has to stay with us but we can always trade him this summer too if he doesn't want to sign. He still has great value. We have a good core with Jones, Werenski, Cam, Oliver,..........but we need a 1C. I think Laine could fit into that core but not with Torts around.

Do you think I said we are about to make playoffs?? Because I didn’t, didn’t expect to before the season. We are rebuilding and shouldn’t be in a playoffs conversation. Unless you’re talking 2 years from now, I’m not sure how you interpreted “CBJ isn’t competitive” with “NYR are competitive”. Nice job 👍🏻

Is it just me or is every fanbase getting angry with Rangers fans because... we have the current talent, plus future talent, and the ability to make a trade with current/future talent to continue to stay relevant? Gorton and Davidson shall be referred to as zaddy from now on. Wait for Cam to pull a vet move and come to NYR in his later years like all good home town boys do wink

I mean, it’s starting to seem like it. I watch so many out of town markets because I love the game and like seeing different players. If I point out that a team is missing something then you would think they would agree and want to fix it. We are lacking LD and we can at least admit that a top 4 LD would make it deep if he was defensive. I’m not attacking their D when people tell us this. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Kids need time to develop? Ya I agree. Seems like some are butt hurt or just immature

UGH i'm offended. In fact... you can't have Eichel unless you give me your big toe. Cut it right off. Also, I will need everything that we had previously talked about. And a hot chocolate. Possibly a cookie as well, we'll see. (i'm just gonna go into troll mode until I see something reasonable).
