2021 Pittsburgh Penguins - The Ulf amp Tocchet Re-made Trades - 30yrs Later

Created by: Sidstick87
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 26, 2021
Published: Mar. 29, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Hinostroza, Vinnie
  2. Montembeault, Samuel
Additional Details:
~ With every Position absolutely smashed by Injuries, GMRH goes & gets a young #3 Goalie that fell out of favor in FLA.
2.
PIT
  1. Laughton, Scott
Additional Details:
- Laughton asks to get Traded to a cleaner City too.
(For those who seen what Friedman said) LOL.
PHI
  1. Jankowski, Mark
  2. Riikola, Juuso
Additional Details:
- Riikola would be an immediate upgrade at 3rd pairing LHD for Philly (& would actually play) & can play both sides = as good too.
3.
PIT
  1. Carrier, William
  2. McNabb, Brayden
  3. Roy, Nicolas
Additional Details:
- If Pens are to move MP, they need to Re-place him w/ a Physical / Net front moving type D-man 1st. Also add 2 bottom 6 wingers with Size.
VGK
  1. Aston-Reese, Zach
  2. Gruden, Jonathan
  3. Lafferty, Sam
  4. 2022 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
- Purely a Cap move by VGK for another Trade to add $3.65m of Cap Space.
4.
PIT
  1. Kupari, Rasmus
  2. MacDermid, Kurtis
  3. 2021 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
- I have liked Kupari's speed & size since he was drafted, even tho he has had some injuries & is a boom or bust type Prospect. Plus he is almost ready to step into NHL games & help as soon as next year.
- MacDermid is a perfect #7 - #8 LHD that brings an edge the Pens could use on the back-end.
LAK
  1. Hinostroza, Vinnie
  2. Pettersson, Marcus
Additional Details:
- MP was great last year, then struggled when returning from Injury, & is now playing great hockey this past month again. Is a legit Top 4 / Top Pairing LHD on a great contract at only 24.

Florida is keeping Montembault because they have to protect Bob and Dreiger is likely selected by Seattle

Nice trades, but unfortunately seems heavily one-sided...

Philly declines simply because Laughton is a lot more valuable than the other 2.

On a related note, it's kind of weird hearing Friedman say that when he never even lived in Philly and he doesn't even live in Pittsburgh now, he's in Cranberry. Like, it ain't the Flyers fault you moved to an area you don't like lmao. Also worth noting after he left lots of reports came out that he was generally not liked by other players in the org.

I don't know enough about Vinnie Hinostroza, but I can't imagine Pettersson being enough to net Kupari and a 2nd. I don't think he's in the tier of defenseman that Rob meant when he said "Dynamic LHD under 25". Could just be personal opinion, but I don't have Pettersson in a tier ahead of Bjornfot or Anderson on the Kings. So the trade doesn't make sense from an LA perspective. They'd be giving up too much for something they already have.

Can FL ask Bob to waive his protection? Not sure the rules on that. Pretty sure he wouldn't get picked by Seattle with his large contract. That'd be the way to go if they could, then they can keep both goalies.

He has a no move clause. He has to be protected.

I still dont kno why players say that stuff about former teams or cities?

Thought it was funny that he said that, but still not really smart of him.

IMO Pettersson will be a #1 Pairing LHD, He was incredible last yr but this yr had a small injury & when he came back he struggled a bit but since March 1st is #1 - #3 in almost every Defensive Analytical stat on our Defense again. He even has a decent shot & probably has the best 1st pass out of zone.... I really hate trading him but w/ Matheson we mite have to now.

Also, Im a big Laughton fan.... I usually hate playing against him, so that usually means I'd love him on my team.
