Description

Trade deadline takes place on April 12th, so at this point I could see Nico Hischier returning from his injury in Mid April.

Kulikov likely will go to any contender considering that there will be more positive covid tests and teams can never have too many defenders. Kulikov will likely bring NJD a 3rd and a roster player for his solid defensive play this season on a team that really struggles with defense. Kulikov can probably go to teams that really struggle with injuries or defense(PHI, COL, BOS)

Additional Details:

Since Vatanen is more of an offensive dman he could go to one of the more offensive teams in the league like Tampa or Toronto. But he could also go to a team in need of defense like Philadelphia or Colorado. I see him most likely going to Boston since they lost Chara and Krug during the offseason and have also lost Carlo, Moore, and Miller to Injury. It'd be good for Boston to get more experience on the back end headed into the playoffs and somebody who could possibly quarterback the PP.

Additional Details:

Devils retain 50% of Pamieri's contract. The team I see Palmieri going to, w/o a doubt is the Islanders. Losing Anders Lee was a tough blow and they are going to have to find an immediate replacement. Palmieri could be that with Islanders. Personally I could see Palmieri going for a 2nd and a prospect/project player. I also could see Him signing an extension with the Islanders, likely 2 or 3 yrs at 4 or 5 mil a year,

Additional Details:

NJ retains 50% of Murray's contract. Similar to the Kulikov situation, Murray is also going to be targeted
by many teams, Murray has also played well defensively on a team not so good defensively. I see Murray having a little more value than Kulikov. One good fit for Murray would be the flyers, The asking price for Ekholm has been rumored to be very high, if the flyers drop out of the Ekholm race, They could go for a much cheaper player in Murray ( in terms of trade value).

Among their rentals, Vatanen is probably the 4th D I would be interested by. I would take Murray before.

Like the Gusev rental for the Oil. A less sure risk than others available, but probably very cheap and has the *potential* to produce in top 6 LW that many rentals don't. However, EDM needs money in money out. Perhaps Chiasson goes the other way with a late pick/B prospect to be flipped for another pick (or kept by NJ since he's a PP net front presence, which I think NJ could use). Chiasson is still fairly effective in the bottom 6 for the Oil, but Puljujarvi and Neal are also good net front PP options so just sort of a duplicated role.

I like the deals from a devils perspective. Personally I think Vatanen will go for less but Kuhlman would be nice as a right wing option. Maybe him and a late pick for Vatanen. Hopefully a team will want to take a chance on Gusev but I think he will stay.

If the Devils are retaining on Palms, then I think they can do better than Bellows and late 2nd that's pretty much a 3rd rounder.

Also, I would push hard for 2022 picks- having four third rounders in a draft where some prospects haven't played all year seems a little counter intuitive.

Philly declines. Because Murray is a LHD, he wouldn't be extended in the summer and Philly likely isn't making the playoffs. I can't see them moving a guy they'd like to have on the roster for a couple more years in NAK for him
