The idea that Zach Parise would waive his NMC in order to leave his hometown and his hometown team for Detroit, of all places and teams, in order for Minnesota to trade a first and a second for one year of Danny DeKeyser and an insurance claim from Henrik Zetterberg is almost funny.

I think the Rangers value is a little low.

We'd prefer an actual prospect over a pick tbh.

Khusnutdinov + 2nd gets it done.

For the price of Strome you have here, you could probably get the younger Strome at a cheaper cap hit with more team control and similar production.

NYR doesn't take that deal, already lacking down the middle & RS has another year on his deal so he's not a rental.

MIN send Erickson EK, Khusnutdinov + 2021 2nd
NYR send Strome & 2021 4th (NYR)

Oof that’s a over pay for Strome. You could make the case for a 1st of you took some salary back for next year but I think a 2nd is probably what his market value is. No way is he worth a replacement player with team control, a B prospect, and a 2nd.

Might just be one of those cases where he’s worth more to NYR tha ln he is to other teams.

JEE is so much better than strome through. he's worth Strome and a 1st easy.

both of those deals are pretty bad. Strome is a 3C which the wild have plenty of. He looks better because he's supported by playing with the right talent in NY, he would flounder with the wild in comparison. Also the Detroit deal is just bad.

Wild would be best served by staying at is or else selling off the Marjo's and bjustad's as possible, but holding on to Cole and give some of our up and comers a chances to show their stuff in the snow for a 5 game stint.

NYR aren't making trades for the future if moving a piece from their top 6, Gorton is only going to make "hockey trades" & trying to get a roster player with term or a RFA back if they were to move Strome.
Min is looking to make a run in the playoffs & has a closing window to compete, Strome helps the leagues worst PP & plays as maybe MIN's 1C & he's got a year on his deal.

Khusnutdinov + 2021 2nd are pieces that aren't going to help the Wild for 3-4 years , They keep their 2, 1st rounders which they can use one of as more trade capital if it presents itself or just keep.
& Strome is an upgrade at C in the short term over Ek Erickson, at least on the offensive side of the game. What are they gonna pay JEE after this season?

MIN is opening a window, not closing it. The goal is to make it through the Parise/Suter deals and be competitive. The only way to do that is by continuing to stockpile prospects. Strome may be a better point producer than Ek but Ek fits the system better than Strome and would leave a hole. Ek is more valuable to the Wild than he is to any other team in terms of trade value.

I would bet his next deal is somewhere in the realm of 3.5-4 mil over 3-4 years. I would lock him up for just over 4 if he does a 6 year deal.

Disregarding the fact that the Wild shouldn't be spending any future assets, these are both awful for Minnesota value-wise.

I mean Suter & Parise have 4 more years on their deals, i don't think Bill Guerin ,who got hired in 2019 is looking to wait that long to make a push, especially with a team sitting in 3rd place , plays a solid Defensive game. I think he's gonna add some offence at the deadline & a lot of times that's a cost towards the future. Not saying it means THIS deal per se.

The problem with a guy like JEE is you cant hold him up as your best center when it comes to this value to the team & trade value & then try to pay him like a 3C as that what his offensive stats lean towards.
I'd not be surprised if gets 5 - 6 years in the 5.5- 6 million ballpark even a bridge deal for 2 years would be in the 4+ range.

Joel Eriksson Ek is a top 5, top 10c in the game right now.

Joel Eriksson Ek is a top defensive c in the NHl.

To think wild would ever trade Eriksson Ek much less for Ryan strome who is in his 30's or close to it is comical

Wrong on all accounts. Guerin doesn't give a flying jack about suter & parise. He's made it clear he's already told players he's not adding, or taking away from this year's roster

Lol, he’s never produced near enough to justify over 4 on a bridge. He doesn’t have the creativity for a top 6 role, many Wild fans would disagree but I will die on this hill. They know he can be the 3C of this team for years to come and I think that’s what they want.

It just doesn’t make sense to move for anything short term, and that’s what Strome is since he walks to UFA after 21/22. Rossi and Boldy will be added to the top 6 next year and there is just no reason to use assets to him up the lineup right now.

JEE is not a Top 10 C in the NHL, stop it.
Tell Patrice Bergeron he's a better defensive center.
Strome is 27.
Now they gotta pay JEE as a very good defensive C, which he is, & not based on his 3rd line C offensive production, you cant have it both ways. Wild Cap doesn't look too bad in the immediate future with those UFAs coming off the books.
My comment on Suter & Parise was, Guerin's gonna wait 4 years to add, to compete until those deals are done? I find that very unlikely.
If the Wild are sitting where they are at the deadline, BG is going to try to add offense, especially for the PP. Not saying that would be at the expense of JEE or involve NYR.

NYR wouldn't have any reason to take the trade as originally proposed.

i get it, you probably have his poster on your wall & got his autograph, he fits that system well & could be a top 6 forward, 2C for the Wild, maybe win a Selke, but Top 10 in the NHL? come on.

Dude Guerin doesn't give a Jack about Ryan suter, or Parise

The younger movement has taken over in Minnesota

Yes, you are wrong because any move Guerin has made was everything to bring in new leadership,. Guerin isn't making move by on helping parise or suter, that is a fact

You are wrong about wild cap. Wild have close to 25 mil in cap room, & will have more if dumba is traded, , or one of cam Talbot/ soucy gets selected or dumba selected

https://theathletic.com/2428496/2021/03/05/how-wilds-joel-eriksson-ek-has-emerged-as-one-of-the-nhls-top-two-way-forwards/

You can simply look at articles out there in which Guerin has made it clear he's not adding to this year's roster, not hurting future, , & he's also not taking from this year's roster in terms of player's who are free agents

He's already talked to wild players about this

See that's the thing, you can't say JEE has all this value as defensive center whether it by trade value or value to the team & its system, but then want to pay him based on his offensive production as the primary factor. (& his agent is aware of that as well)

You may see Boldy this year when BC is out of the Frozen Four. Kids a stud.

I don't see MIN making that trade for Strome either, but that would be the ask & then everyone moves on.
If Guerin offered Khusnutdinov + 2021 1st (PIT) at the deadline, i dont think Gorton takes it & i guess NYR would have to take a contract. (Johansson) ...50/50

Yup. He's only going to want to leave if he can chase a cup. He'll never waive for the dumpster fire (sorry Red Wings fans) that is Detroit.
