didn’t really put in too much effort to see who could afford him- but there is for sure one team out there that would take kerfoot’s salary for a low pick.

If a team really wanted Kerfoot. I think a 2nd could definitely be possible, if not, a 3rd.

Kinda like how Kappy got 15OA and Hallander. Obviously, Kerfoot doesn’t have the value Kapanen did but that just proves that the right team will give a good chunk.

I still think Kerfoot can return a 3rd

Congrats you've nuked the leafs centre depth. I'm so excited for engvall as #2c when one of Matthews/Tavares is injured.

No one wants Engvall as the #2c ever, but if the leafs wants to have a top tier top 4 defense, there bottom six will have to take a hit. You also have nylander who could play centre and call up a prospect to take his wing.

You also make it sound like kerfoot is a way better centre than engvall. Neither of them are second line centres and honestly engvall just fits the third line better then kerfoot and he is way cheaper. So it does make sense.

Kerfoot is a way better than engvall.

He can totally do spot duty in a top 6 c roll but no I wouldn't want him there either long term.

Kerfoot is a 15/40 guy over a full season. People act like he's this garbage player. He's a pretty average 3rd line c

Engvall has 22 points in 73 games played.

Kerfoots numbers over the last few years are similar to other 3cs...

Engvall will get u 15 less points over a season but is much better defensively. He is also making a third of what kerfoot makes. Having a 3.5 mil 3rd line centre is a luxury the leafs cannot afford if they want to have a well rounded team.

If the leafs don't want a 3.5 million w/c in kerfoot they need to have another option beyond engvall. There will be options out there (there always are), but the above is way too much of an unnecessary gamble

Who do u think is a good third line centre that the leafs should go after who is less than 2 mil?( to replace/ demote Engvall in the lineup above)

Will have to see who is available.

A good option will likely not exist unless you pay a team to retain or something.

But this year you could hace had soderberg, wallmark (has stank), Janmark (yes I realize Chicago signed all three), Wennberg, Haula (has stunk)

So not so many options. But a few. I am probably forgetting a few.
