Goalie of the future (hopefully) - Check
Heart and soul type player for the playoffs - Check
Excellent goal scorer, who on a hot streak can win you a series - Check
Shedding some cap space for next year - Check
Giving up pieces and picks that have value, but won't put a dent in the next couple years for the Leafs, but will be a solid building block for CLB - Check
Agree with @reelkena on adding Amirov instead of the second.

This trade is Dutchie Approved!

Not to rain on your parade here but Korpisalo is statistically 3x worse than Freddy this year so far and he's been healthier while doing it.

I like the trade because if Korpisalo is good then great and if he's bad then people will stop blaming Freddy.

Toronto is 25/31 in expected goals against from starters based on chances given up. (it might be one off either way, difficult start to pin down)

It really is the defense.

Unfortunately (as we've discussed before) the solve in net isn't very easy. Though I do think the Leafs D has improved this year. A lot of what I'm seeing is defensive end forwards missing their assignments and making ill advised passes in their own zone. The D still makes unforced errors, but they've tightened up a lot more with Muzzin and Holl gelling and adding Brodie.

Sure, but Korpisalo being the goalie of the future with his numbers makes no sense to me.

Here's what I want: A goalie that gives you a chance to win every night, but not at the cost of a Freddie ($5 mil a year+). Goaltending is the most up and down position in hockey, cause there's no covering for it, unless your perfect in front it. It's a thankless position.....you win, it was the team in front of you (most nights), you lose, it's the goalies fault (most nights). (A little biased cause I'm a goalie step-parent). But at an NHL level, you can't pay a goalie like you do a Dman or Forward, cause there is so much that can happen year to year. Is Bobs worth $10 mil in FLA? Not a chance. Is Price worth $10 mil? MTL is regretting this contract, as it paid him for previous service. It's so much easier to hide a $5 million contract for a F or D, you can't with a goalie, cause you only have 2, and the lower paid one is a back up for a reason. My theory is, as soon as a goalie hits a contract of $5+, it's time to move on.

I'll make sure we sign Demko for 4.75 mil x 7

I just saw that and logged on to see if you'd comment. I'd be so much happier for you if the contract was $4.999,999.99 per year...... LOL
