I think the problem teams have in trading for Bennett is that he's a rental.
How do you put a fair offer on a rental 4th liner who isn't playing well. It's like a 5th or 6th.
As it stands right now his QO is $2,550,000. No team is going to hand him 2.6 million. At least no team with an intelligent GM. There in lies the problem with why CGY is gonna have a hard time moving him.

If Lemieux goes for a 4th, he's worth a 3rd. Don't think the valuation on him is actually the hard part, it's more finding a fit

Lemieux isn't really a comparable because he's half the price, with term.
The problem with Bennett is he's a pure rental. There is no getting around that. No team is going to give him the QO. none.
At least for the 4th LA got him for next year.
No one trading for Bennett is getting anything more than this year.

Bennett isn't worth it IMO. He had a rough year last year and isn't backing out. His even strength production this season matched Rodrigues, but Rodrigues has played 14 less games. He underlying numbers aren't great either. If we are going to spend a 3rd I'd like it to be on someone who isn't playing replacement level hockey.

For a 2022 3rd it’s worth a chance

He’s still young and change of scenery trades have worked before

Playoff stats are really the main point to focus on

His last to seasons in the playoffs he had more power play points than 5v5 points though. He was crushed in scoring chances for during that time as well. I'm just not a fan of him and don't think he is worth it, especially taking into account his arbitration eligibility next season. He is basically a rental, and when you are acquiring a rental you typically want them to be a solid contributor not a project player.
