Why not he's been solid so far and is a perfect fit on that 2nd line. His forecking really surprised me when I first watched him.

I would recommend you change the lineup
Coleman-Matthews-Marner
Galchenyuk Tavares-Nylander
Mikheyev-Engvall-Hyman
Robertson-Kerfoot-Spezza

In this small sample, Galchenyuk has already showed more promise than any other players the Leafs have experimented with on a line with John Tavares and William Nylander. The numbers have been tremendous with Galchenyuk, over 30 minutes at five-on-five across segments of four games, the Leafs' second line is earning a ridiculous 65 percent share of the shot and shot-attempt volume, while amassing 81 percent ownership of scoring chances and 83 percent of the expected goals, as calculated by Natural Stat Trick.

What's been most impressive in his four-game trial with them, has been his work, or work rate, off the puck, using speed and tenacity on the forecheck to win puck battles and create 50-50 opportunities to recover possession. Even Muzzin said he was the hardest working guy on the team right now.

IMO if he plays like this till the TDL they don’t add a top 6 fwd, but someone to play on the 3rd line. Or a depth D, maybe both

I'm surprised by fine play of Galchenyuk. Only thing, if he keeps up this fine play, he's out priced himself out of the Leafs next season.

Can't really add to this, perfectly summed up.

No risk in giving him another 1 year deal so that they can see him over an 82 game span.

It's possible he prices himself out of Toronto. It's also possible he places some value playing in a situation that gets the most out of his game (at least for another year). He's had a few years out in the "wilderness", so maybe fit is his top priority next season.

More than likely Kerfoot is traded at the deadline or is selected by Seattle at the expansion draft. There’s your money IMO

Yea, I think Kerfoot might be going to Seattle....but then you have to fill his spot. Plus Hyman deserves a raise. And if Dermot is still a Leafs....a raise too. Some other teams who might think Gally is 2nd line potential could certainly pay more. But as Barilko14 suggested....maybe Gally prefers to stay a Leaf.

I can’t see Dermott getting more than 1.5 mil but he’s another guy I see gone. It’s time to find Sandin regular mins and with Muzzin and Rielly here, Dermott is the odd man out. Plus he has been regressing since his rookie year.

I’m with the other guy, the Leafs showed patience with Galy, I think he stays. There will be money there for him

The thing about Dermot is as often been paired with the weakest of the Leafs RHD. So I don't think he has regressed. While I agree that Sandin is likely a starting Leaf next season, teams can't just go with 6 NHL Dmen. There will be a spot for Dermot if his cap isn't too much.

I used to be one of Dermott’s biggest fans but enough is enough.

17-18 = xEVO 1.8 xEVD 2.6 xOff 1.8 xDef 2.9 xGAR 6.4 xWAR 1.2
18-19 = xEVO 2.2 xEVD 3 xOff 2.1 xDef 1.4 xGAR 5.1 xWAR 0.9
19-20 = xEVO 0.4 xEVD 2.8 xOff 0.4 xDef 2.4 xGAR 3.1 xWAR 0.6
20-21 = xEVO -0.8 xEVD 0.8 xOff -0.8 xDef 0.8 xGAR -0.1 xWAR 0

Numbers don’t lie. The Leafs don’t trust him on the PP or the PK. He gets about only 10-12 min a night. Plays against the teams 3-4 lines. Yes, he can break the puck out of the zone on occasion but he is very expendable. Unless he takes another qualifying offer, then sure, he can be the Leafs 7-8 Dman. I just think the will be better options and again Sandin needs to be a regular next year

Numbers don't lie, but statement like . "He gets about only 10 to 12 mins a night". do. This year his numbers on down from 17minutes to 12:45 minutes a night, which includes some games when the games when he was injured in the first minutes and the Leafs went with 7 Dmen
