NYR 20-21 Version Trade Deadline 412

Created by: Skeating622
Team: 2020-21 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 29, 2021
Published: Mar. 30, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Trade 1: With Ekbald out for the year. ? FLA can buy out TD (at a cheaper cost than buying out Stralman) and/or expose him in Expansion, or rehabilitate him......???? ?
FLA waived Stralman already this year so he' not looking like the ideal plan for them.
NYR can expose him in expansion. Keep him as an experienced defender for next year on what will be a young D core. Move him in the offseason, options are available. Lundkqvist or Schneider wont need to be rushed.
Trade 2: Defense depth for Montreal's 3rd pair, Smith plays both sides.
Chiarot is out until late April, early May.
Depth for the postseason with Covid Protocolas looming large.

Thats never Happening & tough for FLA's cap.
No one wants Howden.
NYR has no incentive to move Trouba & he's got that NMC.

Its a depth move, one more D man goes down & you got Ouellet & Olofssson in games. Kulak is playing already in the TOP 4 now with Chiarot out.
NYR would probably take 50%, its really a minor move. No one wants to be caught with there pants down, down the stretch or in the playoffs if you get 2-3 guys put in COVID protocol.

Stay away From ADA there is a reason a guy that offensively talented can't stay anywhere. Don't ruin your locker room with that cancer ADA is a case of subtraction by addition

He’s better offensively but defensively he’s worse than yands and we do not need another yandle on this team

Outside of the obvious issue with Georgiev, AD was actually really well liked by his teammates during his time with the NYR.
His issues were with the coaching staff, front office & anyone that challenged him on Twitter whether it be on ice or off ice opinions. He was definitely a distraction.
His next potential opportunity would stem from a situation like this, a potential need. I keep hearing a solid room with a strong Coaching presence would have kept TD in line at in FLA they got a GREAT Coach running that ship.. Who knows?
FLA just lost a RD that plays significant PP minutes (among a lot of other minutes), that's the one thing TD, a RD, was really good at . That's why this is the scenario that popped into my head.
Everyone loves a good old reclamation project, right?

Fair enough, but he's also a cheaper buyout option than Stralman & FLA can still expose him in the expansion draft. So there is an administrative /Cap aspect to this deal as well, if they don't like what they see from TD.
If Q can reign him in & He plays his game ... He does have a ton of offensive talent, but you do need to shelter him on the defensive side to an extent. Quinn played him with the top line at even strength so hopefully the puck was in the other end most of the time he was on the ice.

We don’t have the cap space and I rather see Leskinen than Smith, so Edmundson Kulak Romanov Mete Leskinen Ouellet Olofsson isn’t bad

Well it aint that good.
Again depth move , your overthinking this i I just wanted a Smith move scenario, its not an impossible one.
I think Bergevin may want the guy 500 GP & some playoff experience over a guy with 5 NHL games to his name, its depth & versatility.
Chiarot could get moved to LTIR if needed as well. No cap in the playoffs. your fine, move on.
Even added the max retention & Cap is accrued & this is a deadline deal.

The only way if i were a GM you'd have to give me several picks and ADA for a duffel bag full of pucks and I'd tell him stay away you're bought out as soon as im able

Agreed!
At this point keeping TD & exposing him in the expansion draft & then buying him out is the most likely scenario unless Francis likes a reclamation project in Seattle, talent wise he's the best piece NYR will have available.

TD's value to NYR is basically he's the D man we can expose in expansion.

I think you meant addition by subtraction?

Nope by adding him you're subtracting from the team.
The rangers getting rid if him would be addition by subtraction someone taking him would be subtraction by addition
