So Detroit turns a 2nd, a 3rd, and $2,000,000 of cap space into a 2nd a couple years in the future?

Do Leafs fans ever think about other teams when they make trades?

Wings aren't trading a better 2nd pick for a worse one ..then giving up 3rd.. No chance in hell

Umm. SHAKE YOUR HEAD.

we give up a 2nd this year and 3rd this year for a future worse 2nd pick and we retain 2 million.

Sorry Wings are not here to be Leafs patsy

apparently they were looking for a 3rd team to help retain salary on whoever they got, basically its the Lehner trade all over again except this time the leafs would be the ones getting the player and not retaining salary

also detroit would not get much in the retention bid, when Toronto retained Lehners contract they got a 5th so at most Detroit would get a 4th as that space would only be used till the playoffs conclusion

So if a trade happened it would be like

Tor

in: Hall
out: 2nd + Liliy or something for buffalo and for detroit 2021 4th

Buffalo

in: Pick + prospect
out: Hall (50%) retained

Detroit

in: 2021 4th
out: Hall (another 50%)

it really wouldnt be that at most toronto would send a low pick for the retention as Detroit only would retain till playoffs conclusion

the lehner trade is basically what a Hall trade to toronto would look like (toronto gets the big player, buffalo gets assets and prospects, and detroit gets a pick for helping)

Even if Toronto sends a late-round pick to Detroit, they're still turning a 2nd and a 3rd into a later 2nd

yeah people seem to think if detroit retains they get a high pick, nope a 4th-7th is their best hope unless they add something to the mix than maybe a 3rd

I'm sure with covid and no fans in the building owners will not do a lot of retain salary trades. Especially when all they get out it it would be helping Toronto and the last time I checked no one wants that.
