That is different and with little retained salary too so I could see that happening. I'm just curious why leaf fans think their team needs to add 5 players at the deadline this year???
I see a lot of acgm's that have them adding anywhere from 3-7 players at the deadline, that would kill any team chemistry, considering that the team is in 1st right now.

Abramov + 2nd or SDA + 2nd
Those would both get Okeksiak with retention. Keep Dermott for the expansion and as depth for the playoffs.

Engvall is a good 3C for us, and only makes 1.25M next year. I’d rather keep him considering Laughton needs a raise and could simply just walk.

The Detroit trade isn’t bad for the Leafs. But I don’t think Detroit is interested in anything but picks. Kerfoot serves no value to them.

LA trade: I’m unsure. but again, it’s a guy who needs a raise and mikheyev is under control for next season for a cheap price.

For the billionth time, Detroit is not retaining on LGD, or any low level contract. We have too many, more expensive deals, that we will need to use our retention spots on. Also, zero interest in Kerfoot.

Again, I don't see ALL these moves happening. These are just some moves that I would like to see, something along these lines, even if it's just one or two of them.

Glendening helps with defensive zone faceoffs and the PK. Bobby Ryan provides some playoff experience, depth scoring, and another option on 3 RW.

Iafallo is mostly just for depth scoring but can provide some defence as well.

Laughton is obviously the upgrade at the 3C position

Oleksiak provides a solid option on the blueline since Dermott may need a change of scenery as he has struggled a little bit this season.

I mean I can see how Detroit would be interested in picks, but they do get a couple of decent prospects here. Where do prospects come from? Picks! Kerfoot is really just there for a replacement forward for Glendening and Ryan and because Detroit would likely have to eat some cap.

I'm not sure if I would call Engvall a 3C. I would say he is mostly a 4th liner who can step into a 3C role if there were injuries but on a playoff run I would rather have the more experienced forward who is a solidified 3C. I think with Engvall's improved play there is actually a chance Seattle takes him as well.

What expensive deals are you referring to? Marc Staal? Dekeyser? Because I don't think any teams would want those players even at 50% retained...

Kerfoot is just there as a replacement forward, he provides you with some depth and an actual NHL player for a couple years while your rebuild continues

You could also flip Kerfoot for picks

There is most certainly a market for Staal, it's been reported by the Athletic. Also, Helm, Nemeth and Bernier are all on expiring deals of 3m or more that could get us a better return at 50% retained than they could otherwise.

Hilarious. "depth scoring"?? Iafallo would be sixth in scoring on your team among forwards and has twice as many points as Mikheyev in fewer games; he has one point less than Zach Hyman in one fewer game. The kind of impact he would have for you, even in a limited number of games before the playoffs, is worth more than a pick in the sixties plus a bottom-6 forward. And the pick isn't even in this year's draft.

I know people keep saying no kerfoot but I can see him fitting in the middle 6 easy. Idk why all the hate really. Id probably take the Detroit deal but the retaining money issue is a real thing but I think they work it out.

These Airchair GM posts are always so unrealistic. The Leafs are first in the North and you have them trading away 4 current roster players and you could argue you didn't really make them any better. Plus you bring in 5 new guys to a team that doesn't need a shake up.

The main concern with the Leafs is a healthy goaltender and you did not address this with your four trades.

If the goalies get healthy again, you may see the Leafs add a depth forward and depth defenceman

Engvall is 24, 6’5 and fast. Playing with Hyman and Mikheyev... that line dominates other 3rd and 4th lines. And they have done good against 1st and 2nd lines as well. They are a very good checking line, who can still score because of their speed.

Because Engvall is only 24 he can still develop into a 3C and he has been doing a great job of it so far.

The Leafs could go 7/3/1: Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, Engvall, Anderson, Hyman (to be safe), Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie, Campbell.
Allow Kerfoot to be exposed, as well as Holl and Dermott.
Dermott has the highest ceiling of any of those guys, and Dubas could offer an extra incentive for Seattle to take Dermott. Or, because there probably won’t be many great forwards available, Seattle may even take Kerfoot.

For a guy as good as Engvall and with Engvall’s potential to be a really cheap 3C, I don’t see him going anywhere.
Kerfoot is playing 4th line right now because Engvall is on the 3rd.
