There isn’t a third line center in the league worth a first round pick. Not to mention one that is in the top 10.

....You realize Cody Eakin is a bad bottom six player and that Zach Aston-Reese is a good defensive bottom six player right? You must because that's clearly why you are making the deal.

Why would anyone want his contract?

Oh man that Pens trade is bad. Eakin is toast. He is below replacement level at this point. No one should trade for him.

I would not trade Mittelstadt in that deal. Virtanen and Gaudette are what they are at this point I think. Mittelstadt has a chance to blossom still in the next year, I think.

Also, just FYI, the average age of the 4 players in and the 4 players out is the same. The Sabres would not actually get younger, on average.
