No. Eichel deal is not going to happen without a first being included.

Turcotte, Bjornfot, Kaliyev, and a first for Eichel. Eichel and Kaliyev would be a dirty duo though.

This is closer. The 1st would need to be an unprotected 1st in 2022 as well.

Yea I get the feeling that Buffalo would want a 2021 1st rounder because Eichel would significantly improve LAK, and Byfield will be on the team most likely next year. Buffalo could extract more value with an unprotected 2021 1st which will be top 10 almost certainly.

I hear all of that. But from an outsiders perpective, the Sabres are getting three recent first round picks (1-2 Centers and a potential 2-3 D-man.) The lottery pick would be a no. Turcotte is already a lottery pick.

And LA is getting an elite #1 center in his prime that’s still under contract. I don’t think that offer gets it done. It doesn’t make the Sabres better without Jack

The only way you're trading Jack and immediately improving BUF is by getting McD, MacK, or arguably one or two other guys in the league. None of which are happening.

So if Jack gets traded, it's going to be quantity over quality, and in this case (coming from a DET fan), you're getting a lot of good pieces. My only argument would be to exchange the 2nd for a 2022 1st (not a top 5 pick because you're getting Turcotte, but still a good pick for BUF).

I’m not trading for Eichel until whatever is going with his neck is fine.

I think LAK got the best assets & CAP situation to land Eichel.

G. Vilardi C
R .Kupari C/RW/LW
K. Clague LD
2021 1st RD Pick

3 players that could realistically players for the Sabres, now (3, 1sts & a 2nd)

I never said they need to get better immediately. I asked how that trade makes them better (at any point). It’s not quantity over quality. It’s quantity AND quality. throwing in #2 centers and 2nd pairing dmen isn’t going to convince anyone to trade an elite center. I’m not insinuating that it has to be 4 premier prospects, but it def needs to be better than what’s listed.

Kings are fine at center going forward, they need a top line LD and top line LW. Turcotte and BJornfot could be in the running for those two roles and JAD has been a solid bottom-6. I get that the Kings have the space and the assets to get Eichel, but with Eichel's injury, regression this season, lengthy $10M contract with a no-move clause soon to kick in, why take on all that risk when the Kings have three centers at entry level contracts who are projected top-6 centers?

What the Sabres think he is worth will not meet with what teams are willing to pay, especially when so few teams can just take on $10M.

Turcotte will be a 1C. Perhaps not with Byfield on the same team, but that doesn't make him a 2C any more than it made Malkin a 2C in PIT 10 yrs ago.

Regardless, what tryger says below is true. LA doesn't need to make this deal. I was just pointing out the valuation isn't too bad.

I guess when I say he’s a 2, I’m insinuating that he won’t be a superstar. He’ll be a very good center that definitely capable of playing 1C. My issues so much aren’t with turcotte. I love turcotte. I just don’t think the rest is enough. I think it’ll take two top end prospects in the mix.

Either way, I agree that LA doesn’t need Eichel and shouldn’t trade for him. They’ve done a great job building up the prospect pool and you’d hate to trade 4 key pieces for one player. Even if it is eichel.

In the end, if Eichel is traded, both fan bases will be upset. Sabres fans will have wanted more and the other will believe they gave up too much. When both fan bases are unhappy with the deal, it’s probably a good one. Lol
