like the trade but i don't think pitt neeeds him. They lack physicality so a 3C who is more physical would be better for them imo

Yeah I’m not gonna stand for them detailing this entire season and getting back to cup form to get physical. Everyone keeps screaming for Sam Bennett but that ain’t it.

Sam Bennett is more "it" than Middlestadt and like it or not this team is going to add size and toughness...I can guarantee that.

He pretty much is with only 1 year left on his contract. Zero sense for the sabres, ZERO

Sabres decline. He looked like a good top 9 player even in Buffalo's current dire situation.

I mean that’s not what a rental is lol. You get a year and a half with him. Play him. If he plays well then trade him or sign him longer term.

A year and 15 games (after tdl) of a depth dman is useless for a young player that is playing better each year is not worth the same. I don't know what you're trying to argue here.

Bennet 34 games played 4-3-7 points 0.20 PPG.

Mittlestadt, 19 Games played 1-4-5 points. 0.26 PPG.
Casey’s analytics are better both offensively and defensively. Bennett is awful.

Then go get someone like Virtanen who has potential to score and still play the physical game. He seems perfect because you can put him in a 3rd line role and run him up with Sid whenever things get heated.

Now look at what they have done in their careers. Like I said. Bennett is better and has actually had consistent seasons. Mittlestadt has not done 1 thing

Tbh, both are pretty equal in value right now. Bennett has had a 9 game playoff stretch where he was a really good player, but then reverted to really underwhelming. Mitts has also been underwhelming. Both are depth forwards. Mitts is younger, so possibly keeps developing, where Bennett is what he is, which right now might slightly be better then Mitts.

Bennett is 24 and has 4 seasons of 10+ goals. 1 30+ point season. 3 20+ point seasons. Mittelstadt has 1 season of 20+ points. Thats it.

He’s also only played one season of as many games as Bennett. Extrapolating last season gets him to that 10+ goals and 20+ point seasons that I guess are the benchmark here. Still plenty of time. Weren’t you also the guy who said Ullmark was junk and Buffalo would be lucky to have Murray?

Never said that. I did say I would rather have Murray over Ullmark because Ullmark is already in his late 20s, and the most games hes played in a season is 37. Again, he hasn't shown any years of consistent success. And by that I dont mean playing less than a full season for multiple years. I mean playing a chunk of the season for a few years

Murray is now going on his 3rd bad year in 4 years. Still feel that way, or is it possible that he was gifted being on a great team, and had some good stretches but isn’t really a starter caliber either (outside of 16/17 when he looked great). Even in 18/19 he was more a product of being on a great team. Put him on the equivalent of the Sabres in Ott, and you can see which one is better.

And how exactly does those players relate to Bennett and Mittelstadt?

It relates because past performance doesn’t always correlate to future success and should only be one set of data used when determining a players worth. One of your claims was that Bennett has had 3 seasons of 20+ points. Mitts hasn’t even played 3 seasons worth of hockey yet at the NHL level. And comparing them if you extrapolate nothing but point totals over a full 82 game season they are very close, why I said they probably have similar value vs you saying Bennett is clearly better.
