Rangers trade

Created by: Climuster
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 31, 2021
Published: Mar. 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I suspect that Freddy's injury is worse than we expected, which makes him worth nothing. This would take a cancer player away from NYR and bury him in the minors. Perhaps the staff in Toronto can work with AD and try to resurrect his career. That's a longshot though. If not, then he can walk after the contract expires. Georgiev would be for Lilegren and a 1st for 1.5 years of a cheap goaltending option. Hutch goes the other way to balance out the money, and give them a capable backup for this year.

So just to be clear, you are proposing trading our best RHD prospect, a first and our 3rd stringer for a guy who will never play for the Leafs and a backup with worse numbers than Hutchinson. What an absolute dumpster fire

I don't think Toronto would trade for DeAngelo in any type of situation. His issues stem far away from just his time in New York. He's a proven locker room cancer that won't go away. That's the way he was raised and nothing's changed nor will it. They've also said that they'd only consider a goalie trade if it was an upgrade over their current situation, which Georgiev is not. He's basically an AHL goalie this season. Add in that factor that Toronto would have to protect both those players in the upcoming expansion draft to Seattle, and this deal makes absolutely no sense for Toronto. If they protected either of them then they're losing one of Justin Holl, Jack Campbell, Alex Kerfoot, Travis Dermott, etc. - all of them are worth protecting over the incoming players. & if they don't protect them, they essentially just gave up a B prospect, a 1st round pick, and a decent veteran goalie option (who's at least an equivalent to Georgiev this season) for only 1 of those players.

Leafs won't consider this. If a goalie is of need that much to them, try a rental goalie. But they're also not in a position to be taking on as much cap space as you've listed either.

NYR probably accept since they are done with DeAngelo and they could lose a goalie in expansion draft. Leafs make out pretty well here.

And... the added bonus of $1.9M in dead capspace (this year and next) for that player that will never play for the Leafs.

Im a Ranger Fan & that's a pretty big overpay for solving our TD problem & acquiring Georgiev!

If you really wanted Geogiev, NYR might offer:

2021 3rd RD Pick (From Buffalo) - #64 OA (TBD)
Alexandar Georgiev
Karl Henriksson

for-

Filip Hållander
Michael Huthcinson

Lol. Leafs get absolutely reamed here. A solid prospect+1st+meh, for an overrated backup goalie and a cap dump.

I have ZERO interest in that particular defensman. He can keep his skill set, and his nut job attitude far away from the Leafs organization.

Georgiev isn't worth the cost here and really isn't much better than what we currently have if at all. He's yesterdays news IMO.

So, that is an easy no for me.

Overrated back-up would be the Leafs franchise goalie. And leafs fans know that. It is why Rangers get so many offers for Georgiev.

Don't know who Henriksson is but that's a yes from Toronto. Only reason they'd think twice is the coming expansion draft. But if the expansion draft didn't exist that would be a very easy yes from Dubas.

Oh...I didn't realize that you're in Jeff Gorton's inner circle, and have heard all of these massive offers for Georgiev, a goaltender who, coming into this season, had league average numbers across the board, and has followed that up by being below league average. Guy is a STUDDDDDD! Reminds me of a young Vesa Toskala.

Yea you are sending a A- prospect and a first for a guy who won't play for the Leafs and a backup goalie. Dubas just got fired.

Henriksen - Similar to Hallander but don't think he translates to a C in the NHL, maybe a 3rd line ceiling.

F. Hallander is closer to the NHL, NYR is shallow at C on an organizational level & he plays with Nils Lundkqvist in Lulea as well.

Oh, ok. I mean he wouldn't be too far behind Hallender, less than a 3rd. Which leaves part of a 3rd and Hutch for Georgiev. I think Leafs accept it if the 3rd is going the other way.

Only goalie they could lose would be Kinkaid. Assuming Georgiev gets protected over him (because why wouldn't they, that's why they signed him), and they'd be fine. Shestyorkin is exempt, so he's not at risk. Basically New York chooses who to protect of 2 AHL calibre goalies and why wouldn't they protect the younger Georgiev in that situation. They're fine though. They'd take this deal cause it's a huge overpayment though.

How? Right now they are moving the better goalie, a 1st and the better defenceman?

tbh, talent wise Deangelo would probably be your best RHD and Keefe already has positive history with him...

could work.
