Would it fly

Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 31, 2021
Published: Mar. 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Questions is, can the Habs trade again with Buffalo to get Hall? If.so, picks.would be the main trade, then salary dollars would need to go and provide Buffalo with UFAs or RFAs they can keep or let go at the end of the year.. so.. giving up all these players seem to be expensive but could it fly given that Buffalo could keep Danault and Mete, and Habs would get Hall and a chance.to keep him next year??

They could, nothing says you can't trade to the same team twice near the deadline (See Bruins/Anaheim last year).

Call me crazy but Phil Danault will be much more valuable to us in the playoffs than Hall.

Agreed but IF you could get Hall for say Lehkonen + Chiarot + Harris + 1st. We could move Toffoli back to his natural side. We could also potentially trade Byron + 3rd for Ghost and line up.

Hall-Suzuki-Anderson
Drouin Kotkaniemi-Toffoli
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher
Armia-Staal-Perry
Romanov-Petry
Gostisbehere-Weber
Kulak/Edmundson-Edmundson/Mete

Which looks a lot more like a playoff team IMO

Even then, where does Hall even fit? He's been worse than Tatar this year or equal at best. I wouldn't trade all that for a guy that would statistically be our 3rd best LW.

I would bet that given a fresh start on a new team that this year was more of a Buffalo thing than his decline. Also I believe he would have something to prove headed into the playoffs on a team that has a legitimate shot at being in the conference finals.

I 100% agree that Hall is a strong bounce-back candidate, but your offer seems like a lot for candidate that is UFA at the end of the season.

Yes it does but it also pushes us closer to Cup contender status as well. It still might not put us in the top 5 but I would think it pushes us into the top 10 for sure, and isn't that the ultimate goal.

Dude nothing I included was worth a 2nd! Chiarot = 3rd Lehkonen = 3rd or 4th. Because I asked for retention and sent 2 3rds and a B prospect I felt we needed to upgrade to a 1st. It is the only thing in the package that really holds value to Buffalo TBH.

Huh? Lehkonen has really good analytics and is worsth a 2nd just for the team control itself xD. Chiarot is still a solid dman Idk what you're trying to prove man. And Harris a B prospect... lol. He had a ppgm just for your information in the NCAA this year as a dman... Also was on the top pair last year in the WJC for team USA... An offer to acquire Hall would look like Lehkonen a 2nd and like Vejdemo or a 3rd. More than that would be overpaying

I don't see any team out there giving up anything higher than a mid 3rd for Lehkonen (I also really like Lehky) sure his defensive numbers are good but it is his offense that brings down his value IMO. Chiarot I am not a big fan of he is a solid 3rd pairing guy for sure but not much more than that, he was propped up by Weber last year and this year has proved that. I also used Chiarot as a cap dump. Harris is a good prospect and has a ceiling of a top 4 D man for sure but he also poses a huge risk for the organization if the rumors are true. We offered him a contract and he turned it down, now this could be nothing more than him and his family wanting him to finish school or it could be that he doesn't want to play outside of the states and thus wants to be a free agent next season. That makes him the most likely prospect to be moved and also lowers his value a bit. I really really wanted Harris to sign a contract this year and be given a shot in the NHL while Chiarot was out but that never happened and now we may lose him for nothing at the end of next year.

You misread his stats for the year. The whole team can't send the forwards back to attack, so he can't score if the defense can't push them forward. Hall's stats reflect the team's effectiveness.

Understood.. but to get Hall, you'll need that overpayment. And, giving out UFAs means they potentially can come back next year if you can manage that expectation. Danault, he's a probable lost cause from the get go. He wanted 6M/year, unfortunately he's a possible 2nd liner but more of a 3rd liner on the top 12 teams. He isn't a 1st Centerman that he think he is, That's the reality.

Mete is a flip, with our new Russian Dman, he's been off and on the lineup, give him up for a potential player like Hall. Lek, Armia and Weal are all players that could help Buffalo stop the bleeding without long term risks for them..

Yeah.. little more than Hall's contract. Would need to adjust a player or so. Maybe even retain the difference, then put Byron on waivers again for cap space.. or trade him out for high pick (6th-7th)..
