Holy discount! This guy’s got a real bright future, and he’s been the Canucks’ best player by far this year. Demko sure took a lot less to help out the team. Now here’s hoping that they use their extra cap space wisely.

Bit too much for a goalie with 60 game experience if you ask me, but for the sake of Nucks I hope he proves me wrong.

Could be a lot worse though.

Benning gets a lot of hate, but he is very competent in regards to RFA signings. This is a very reassuring start to a difficult contractual offseason. Continue to keep him away from July 1st and you have a good GM running this team.

I'm confident given that he was highly touted for considerable time. He had a bright future years ago, and he is living up to it now. So far this is a win in the Markstrom department.

Good deal, a bit high of an AAV for now but he’ll quickly be worth it

Great deal for the Nucks. Demko's been solid and he's got a bright future.

He's done a lot of things right. It all just gets overlooked because the Benning meme rules superior.

Looking back at this offseason. Letting go of Markstrom was the right decision. Schmidt is finally starting to look like the upgrade needed on the blue line, Hoglander gets top 6 ice time and is a very promising spec, and most importantly, there's cap room to work with. Looking back, Only Toffoli over Jake is a regrettable choice. The others are Ws.

Team might have a year of down performance, but long term it all makes sense.

It's not really what I would call a discount but yeah. Demko will be a stud for VAN. Not a bad contract but not cheap. Love from MTL VAN fans Sticking Out Tongue

This deal has a lot of upside, especially if he plays consistently like the goalie we saw in the playoffs.

The most interesting thing for me moving forward: Vancouver's goalie coach Ian Clark's contract expires this year. Worked well with both Markstrom & now Demko. Will be very curious to see if he gets an extension.

In true capfriendly fashion, demko is going to be bad because the general base here likes his deal, and binnington is going to be insane because the general base here hates his deal

Next to no doubt that the duration of this contract will deliver waaaay better value than Markstrom's. So a win there. Just too bad Holtby's contract will be on the books for a year coinciding, as it will take a lot to entice Seattle to take him.

He's only signed for one more year

My bad, edited, thought it was 2 more for some reason. Will still be a bit of a crunch again next season is all.

Clark is probably just as important as the netminder himself. One of the best goalie coaches in the game.

Hard to compare to Murray or Binnington because 2 of the 5 years are RFAs and the three others are autonomy.

The way I see it (unconfirmed) it's 2x4M, 1x5M and the 2 last ones at 6M.

Holtby wasn't great in WASH last 2 seasons but his career really spiraled after that mask fiasco in VAN. Talk about getting off on the wrong foot. Basically it'll be $9.3M next season for Demo in goal.

This is very very risky. Goalies are voodoo, could be next Gibson, could be next Murray.
