Why would Van do that? Koskinnen is probably worse than holtby, not to mention pick downgrade

One way or another I can see moving on from kosk this offseason coaching staff just doesn’t seem confident in him which is most likely going to result in a buyout. I’m just not sure why they aren’t confident in him he’s worth his deal if he’s playing enough to stay sharp benching him for as long as they have been just doesn’t seem fair or the right plan.

I defy Barrie supporters to give a reasonable explanation for these stats:

xGF% while on the ice with McD (5v5)
Bear - 69.83%
Nurse - 59.09%
Barrie - 53.72%

xGF% while on the ice with Drai (5v5)
Bear - 64.88%
Nurse - 54.31%
Barrie - 49.89%

I didn't believe it myself for the first half of the season, but Barrie is a huge liability. Bear is an extremely talented overall player with a ton of room to grow. Barrie can't defend, or penalty kill. He gets sheltered like a rookie. Broberg and Bouchard need the opportunity to play sheltered minutes, not a $6mill+ defenseman

I like the Van deal. Holbty always seems to steal games against the Oilers and is a nice vet on a decent deal.

Not touching the Sens deal. I take Bear any day of the week over Tierney. No doubt Bear has slowed down a bit since his injury, but he was a legit top 4 dman last season. Would be pretty short-sighted to move him after a tough streatch. Even in the last couple weeks he's looking better.
