Who adds

Created by: OutCold13
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 31, 2021
Published: Mar. 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just putting this out for discussion. Give me your pros and cons from either side. It might be just a bad idea.
Trades
MIN
  1. Mittelstadt, Casey
  2. Thompson, Tage
Additional Details:
Who adds and how much?
BUF
  1. Greenway, Jordan
Additional Details:
Not sure moving Greenway makes sense for the Wild he has been good, but getting a young center and a right shot wing with a similar skillset, though not as developed, could be worth it. I assume the Wild add a 3rd or so in this scenario. Obviously expansion has to be thought out a bit before making a trade like this.

I don't know if Buffalo adds, but I don't want that return as a base if I'm trading Greenway. It's often better to have the better player, even if he's a left shot left wing, and you needs centers and right shot players more. At this point, neither Mittlestadt or Thompson come close to Greenway, value-wise.

True it's a gamble for Guerin. I'm also kinda thinking if Wild protect 4 defenseman then the obvious choice for Seattle is Greenway, if Wild did this trade they would possibly lose one of these 2 but Wild would still have something for Greenway.

I mean to add, if Greenway is traded, which I personally think should be an option that's on the table, it should be for an equivalent but slightly less valued center (slightly less because Greenway is still just a winger) OR in a package for a top 6 center. I would make an exception for an 18-20 year old higher end center prospect like Newhook, AS AN EXAMPLE.

I don't think Mittlestadt or Thompson would be taken in expansion draft. If he went 4+4 and traded Greenway for this, I think Seattle has to take Soucy. Obviously just my opinion. The clock is really ticking on Mittlestadt and Thompson becoming anything more than bottom six players.

To be honest, if you want Mittelstadt, you can probably have him for a second round pick to third round pick that’s usually close to the range of what these reclamation projects go for.

Bad for MN. Tage is sitting in the pressbox, and Mitts is in the AHL for MN this year. Next year they are both waiver fodder.

Mittens is starting to get it at the pro level I think. Thompson I'm hoping Guerin can get through to him like he did Greenway.

Buffalo would have to add more, as a Sabres fan would love this, and think you'd be very disapointed in Thompson barring some major development shift. Mitts still is showing potential, and could be very good

Mitts might be, but with BUF it's hard to tell anything. I haven't seen Tage show anything like Greenway would show from time to time last year as a player. He just had 0 consistency in his play.

I agree. I've come around to the 4-4-1 model for the ED. I do think we lose Greenway in that setup, but I'm not as upset by that as I once was. We're going to lose something for "nothing" no matter how we do it and there doesn't seem to be a market for trading Dumba that returns people we can protect. All of our trade partners already have 3D they want to protect.

I think it's going to be a very quiet TDL with the ED looming. If anything I'd rather see Greenway traded for picks, but even then we'd still lose Soucy. So it's lose-lose.

A lot of. GMs around the league with Mitts is that he doesn’t have the speed to play center and would be a much better fit on the wing, and if that’s true, it doesn’t help if you’re looking for a center

I think it is a combo of many things. He's not strong, not fast (he's not slow either), doesn't process the NHL game fast enough (that can change with time), and he was rushed into the NHL instead of getting AHL time after he left college.

I saw him a few times live in the USHL and he was just electric, college was more of the same. It's sad to see what he's become since then.
