I'm sorry but this isn't even close. First Detroit has absolutely no need to trade Mantha and since he just signed a 4yr team friendly deal. It's going to take an overpay to get him and no way Detroit retains on him for the next 4 seasons.What makes Pettersson valuable is his ability to produce and he isn't producing at all right now and with 4yrs left and a cap hit of just over $4M per, he really doesn't have value you think he does unless he is producing. If he was that good you'd have teams fighting over him like teams are fighting over Ekholm. When I see Pettersson in ACGMs almost all of them are done by Pittsburgh fans. Rodrigues is a bottom 6 forward at best and Detroit already has enough of them. I'm sorry but even if Detroit had to trade Mantha this still wouldn't happen.

This is not close. It starts with one of poj or poulin and if they aren't in the trade then it's a pass no matter what. Then we aren't retaining on a 4 years deal that's as I realistic as it gets.

He's a bit overpaid as a 40 pt player

The reality is: Mantha is toast. DET could lose him for nothing in a couple yrs, trade him, or grossly overpay for a power forward that will quickly decline. Mantha is at his prime right now. I think DET would be wise to cash in his value now for a prime prospect asset. Might have to wait until his production improves, if it ever does...

Where is this prime prospect asset? Detroit in this ACGM is retaining on Mo for MP, Rodriguez, and a second rounder. MP is underperforming and I don’t see offensive upside in him. Rodriguez is a bottom six forward and the second round draft pick doesn’t have great odds of even playing 100 NHL games. Why is Mantha toast? He’s 26 and his deal runs him till he’s 30. Maybe we flip him later into his contract when his value isn’t at a low and have guys like Raymond, Zadina, and Berggren as top 6 winger fixtures.
