DRW Retooling

Created by: AZWings
Team: 2016-17 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 3, 2017

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Be happy for comments. Polite ones anyway. :)

Green trade based on Yandle trade, but less assuming NYR learned their lesson on that one. :)

Vanek trade / comparable to Hudler trade last year.

Vatanen for Nyquist straight up salary swap and expansion draft protection for both teams.

Trouba trade. Take your pick of lefty D-men, but I still think Smith has potential. If not, Hicketts may be a future PP quarterback and toss in a pick. Include Mrazek once he gets his form back for Hutch.

First Nyquist will get you nothing close to a young stud defenseman. He ahs been horrible this year, he can score and has zero puck luck. Why would the Rangers want Green? The Jets do not want to get rid of Hutchinson and take on 3 mill for a guy who can not beat out Correa, Smith is an UFA this year and Hicketts, thou promising is not ready.

Nyquist hasn't scored goals, but he's been far from horrible. His advanced metrics continue to place him in the top 5 of forwards for the Wings in terms of production.

That being said, I think Anaheim would prefer Tatar. They're going to have to sell low on one of Lindholm, Vatanen, or Fowler or lose one to expansion draft due to the NMCs that they're forced to protect.

Precisely. I think he's played well, just hasn't scored yet. Streaky he is.

I debated that one too and agree they'll want to flip one of the D for a forward or perhaps prospects and a pick at the deadline.

As to why the Rangers would want Green? Well, they need help on the right side of their D.

Smith's advanced stats are and have been at least as good as Trouba's.
