James Neal as 1C, now that is what the NHL needs more of, outside the box thinking. James Neal is big and a wiley vet who can clog up the middle of the ice. Even though he doesn't take face offs on a regular basis, while practice due to his excessively powerful wrists he could challenge the top C's in the league for years.

McDavid is not good defensively, so this minimizes the damage and gets him matched up with other bottom 6 players where it is possible for him to have more success.
