Description
To me this deal is really interesting. Henrique isn't having a horrible season but is making to much to put up just decent numbers. Leafs have been looking for someone to either play with JT and Nylaner or enter that third line. I think Henrique would be a great fit for either one of those spots on the team. If Freddy does move to LTIR (which is sounds like it might happen) then the cap space works and you don't have to sell on Kerfoot.

Ducks do this deal as they already tried to waive him once this year, coming back is a C level prospect, a decent bottom pairing guy and a low pick. more than they would have ever got if he was claimed. Ducks hold a small percentage of Henriques cap to make the deal better, but overall they are still saving on cap.

Only problem I have with this deal is next season, you for sure have to either let Andersen walk or trade a player to make the cap work. And the problem is ALOT of teams are against the cap next season, so maybe you don't do this deal. Not sure, just wanted to hear everyones thoughts!

He would be a great 3rd line centre for them, but the cap is to much for going forward. Even if you let Freddie walk you will have to spend to get a number 1 goalie. Plus Hyman needs a big raise and Rielly the year after. Possibly you could use him as a rental and pay Seattle to take him in the expansion draft, but no guarantees there.

The only additions I see the Leafs doing at the trade deadline is expiring contracts

The term is too big an issue. They would have to eat more salary for it to be considered.

Completely fair! I totally think the player they will only get is a rental too however, I don't love the players we have been looking at!
