I don't follow either team super closely but my initial thought is that Carolina would definitely have to add. I don't think it has to be a huge amount more but definitely something.

Canes are literally looking for a defensively minded 3rd pairing RHD. The thinking for me is that the Canes find that guy for this season to see how it goes. Fleury needs a chance to play more mins in a different role.

For Seattle - send a 2nd to them to pick between Gardiner or Manson if the experiment doesn’t go well.

Fleury is kind of a weird case for the Ducks, he doesnt fit in very well imo but value wise I would say he isnt far off Manson, I feel like Joey Keane would be a better piece to make a Manson trade with over him but I'm not sure how CAR values Keane

Manson with his extra year at $4M kills any possibility of this for me. Unless they’re planning on having a potential Hamilton plug-in for next year on the likely chance he walks. I’d think Hakanpaa makes much more sense.

I think Keane is valued, but needed another year of seasoning and they’ve now moved him up to the Taxi squad. I will say that the Canes defensive pipeline is VERY thin especially righties. I think this is the reason they’d likely not trade him.

I think you pay Seattle to take Gardiner and all is settled. It’s a net reduction in cap

Ducks fan here. I'd probably do it. It would absolutely hurt my feelings, but it would probably be a smart move.

Manson has been heating up so he may have more value right now.

I think Francis would easily prefer Skjei to a 2nd plus a hobbled Gardiner or Manson, assuming the proposed trade goes through. I suppose it depends on whether or not you’ll prefer Manson to Skjei.

Francis will extract his pound of flesh if it comes down to having to pay him to stay away from or to select certain players. I’d imagine he’d be wanting much more than a 2nd. In my view, protect Slavin, Pesce and Bean or Skjei (assuming Bean might be dealt in a package for a forward) and lose Fleury or Manson or whoever, screw paying off Francis. Accept you’re losing a good player and move on.

I think the ducks decline based solely on losing Fleury to the expansion draft. The ducks are set in protecting Lindholm Fower and Shattenkirk as Dmen. Up front they have more bodies to chose from but not many set in stone and for that I think the should be getting fwds in return or ED exempt players/picks.
