I can't see Hall signing for that little no matter where it is.

Fair. I don't see Hall coming to Carolina short of an extension before the trade, however. I also think that any Hall decision while the flat cap is going on will go down to either full value or contending. This deal would give him a bridge of sorts to ride the flat cap and help rebuild his value with an elite team before truly cashing in.

only thing with that is he will be 31 by that time and there aren't many teams that would be willing to offer a big long-term contract to a player already in his 30's and hi s best years likely behind him, especially if the cap hasn't changed much by then which is a real possibility.

If Hall performs at his original top-caliber form with Carolina, though, a Pavelski-style 3-4 year pact at $8.5-9.5M per wouldn't be a terrible outcome in free agency for Hall.

True, would have to sacrifice a lot to get on a contender though. There is also the potential his stock just continues to drop and he ends up with even less. So it would be whether he wants the security now or does he take the risk?

Forget silly extension talk. Your offer to Buffalo seems the most any team would give for Hall

I don't think it's as silly as you think. The only way that Carolina gives a first is if Hall extends, as he is rumored to be interested in doing in the event of a trade.
