On paper it looks good but unfortunately I doubt #62, 40,90 all sign for lower amounts. Then ask Danault to sign for under 5. Unfortunately I do not think this is going to work. I would like it to but not very optimistic that it will.

Why shouldn't it? It's 0,1% out of the 2nd place in the division.

He's a Leafs fan, probably thinks the Leafs are winning the Cup and has his ticket to the parade!

If they don't win they break the record for the longest drought.

Lehkonen, Armia and Danault all want more, also, I don’t think we’ll realistically be able to keep the team together, we’ll lose at least 1 to Seattle and a couple to free agency

I think if the Devils are going to take on an aging winger with severely declining stats on a meh contract then the pot needs to be a little sweeter.

You would be better of using the argument that he was injury prone rather than aging and declining stats. You realize that 3 of the last 4 years prior to this one he put up the best numbers of his entire career. Last year he had 10 points in 29 games which meant he was on pace for another 30 point season making it 4 years in a row he has hit or was on pace for 30 points, as a 3rd and 4th liner! This year is the outlier not the norm.

I see what you're trying to say, but you don't realize how terrible the Devils are offensively. You must not watch Devils games if you think this is the kind of guy we should trade for. The last thing we need is an aging winger that has a "career year" of 30 points....we have plenty of 30 point producing players. I'd rather give the ice time to a young player that can provide the exact same output on half the contract.

I was not saying the Devils need Byron I was saying that your argument of him being in decline was not valid. A bottom 6 guy that nets 30 points or is on pace for 30 points in four out of the last 5 years is clearly not in decline. It would have been better for you to argue that he was injury ridden or simply just not a fit but you chose to go with aging and in decline.
