Trouba is most likely a keeper. he has put up great points in the past until now and he has many great qualities + he was 9th overall.

These guys are only human and have good seasons and bad seasons

Trouba has an NMC through each of the next 3 years, and a modified NTC for the final 2. Even if they achieved the tall task of convincing another team to trade for him (and probably with retention), you would then have to convince him to allow the trade, too.

Considering he had his sights set on NY to be with his fiancé/wife, on top of the fact that they are a team trending in the right direction, I don't think he would be too keen on leaving town right now.

His Contract could get start getting ugly quick. No question about that. But moving it is easier said then done.

Sure he could pick up his play and become worth the 8 mill but that doesn’t change the fact that we will need that money free to sign laf and other guys

The Fox and Lindgren contracts are ugly. Fox only wants to play here and won’t cost that. Maybe 6.5m and Lindgren is closer to 3/3.5m also.

He has a NMC. I doubt he wants to go to Buffalo and Buffalo would want more to take his contract. You can't trade him (assuming he doesn't waive) until 2024-25 when he has a M-NTC

That's Fox's market value. I agree he'll sign for less (i believe we've had this convo before) but he's worth every penny at 8.5 mil. But if I had to guess, a lot of these guys get bridge deals to keep the core together, see if you can go on a run with the talent they've built over the years, then go for the big contracts when the cap jumps.

He’s all D, no scoring. Important for sure but I don’t see him getting more than 4M

He sure is! No doubt about that. But most of us agree that he will take a “Crosby” type discount

I agree. Those types of guys are franchise altering players
