Can you explain the SEA move? Why is NSH giving up Ingram + Sissons + 4th?

Also the VAN deal is pretty bad for NSH... no chance they take that offer.

Because, it's to protect Jarnkrok, Tolvanen and Fabbro.

So what is your protection scheme? You've traded Arvidsson, so that's a spot open -- I can't imagine you'd protect Johansen or Duchene (or at most one of them). So that leaves you with 2-3 open slots if you go 4-4-1 which you can use on all the people you just said. Though I think Tolvanen is exempt -- maybe he reaches some games played thing this season, but in that case they can still protect him. And I think SEA would be much more interested in Tolvanen or Fabbro over Sissons + Ingram + 4th.

The VAN trade really confuses me. I don't understand how NSH has to take Eriksson back, in a proposal where they're giving up the best asset.

Tolvanen is exempt from Expansion draft. Carrier is 12 games away from being exposed (injury could be a blessing in disguise)

This doesnt really help the youth enter the lineup nor does it free up cap space.

Don't think you understand the expansion rules. Carrier is NOT exempt, therefore he is exposed (his games played doesn't matter). Carrier has played more than two seasons of pro hockey in North America (AHL/NHL). Theoretically, if the Predators happened to trade or terminate Ellis, Ekholm, Borowiecki, Benning and Fabbro from their team prior to the Expansion Draft. That would be considered ILLEGAL.
Teams must expose 1 defensemen for SEA to pick. Josi can not be selected because he has a NMC.
Sbisa, Carrier, Allard, Lewington, and Harpur can be selected but the Predators must expose at least one defensemen with the minimum games played (Ellis/Ekholm/Boro/Benning/Fabbro)

If we want to be completely accurate, guys like Sbisa don't have a contract for 2021-22 so he's ineligible to be selected

Also to add to that...if it truly went by these NHL games played that they must play to be exposed. All 30 teams (excluding VGK) would bury all their non-exempted prospects in the AHL

I was of the understanding one defensemen must be exposed who is under contract 2021-22 and has played at least 27 NHL games this year or 54 NHL games last two years
With that the Preds can expose Boro or Benning with the Top4 protected.

So it seems Carrier/Allard will be under the exposure requirements but can still be selected during the expansion draft.

It would be interesting if NSH doesn't move Ellis or Ekholm if they protect Josi, Ellis, Ekholm, Fabbro, Carrier, Forsberg, Arvidsson, Kunin, Saros
Let Seattle pick between Johansen, Duchene, Jarnkrok, Sissons, Trenin (and Allard, Jeannot, Pitlick,) It will be another tough expansion draft for the Preds

Yeah the wording isn't the best.
I assume if NAS goes with the 7/3 format, they'll go Josi, Ellis and Fabbro. Assuming they'll trade Ekholm at TDL or off-season

NAS at this moment meets the minimum exposure requirements. Again in that unlikely scenario where they trade away all those d-men, they would need just one d-man not named Josi to be considered LEGAL.
