Deadline maneuvering

Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 3, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Purely hypothetical, but it would be fantastic if bergy decided to go all in for once.

I think this team could make some serious upsets in the playoffs. The depth plus hopefully a good Pricey will be scary

That is waaaaaayyyyy too much for Ekholm that is basically 2 1sts + 2 roster players (albeit depth players) + 3rd no thanks not at that price.

Poehling >>>>>>>>>>>> Lemieux

See....I don't know anymore. With Poehling, you had potentially an O'Reilly type player where he can score and be responsible defensively. I just don't think he has an NHL level of professionalism yet.

Lemieux is a great player, sort of like a Chiarot type guy. Those guys really help playoff teams, and I think Lemieux would do well in a shutdown role here.

Fair point, but keep in mind the 50% retained salary on Ekholm to make cap work, and Byron basically being a cap dump. Add on the fact that we may have to convince Poile to sell and we have value shot through the roof.

Nashville takes that and runs.

Although in reality, they most likely keep Ekholm because they're all of a sudden within reach of a playoff spot.

Kings accept.

I don't know why everyone considers Byron a cap dump near another bottom 6 forward in the league wh has had 4 ot of the last 5 season eclipsing or being on pace for 30+ points without PP time and is a PK beast and also has the speed and skill to be able to play on the 2nd line if needed.

Well he shouldn't have a ton of value to, in this situation at least, a rebuilder when they're looking to play prospects on their third and fourth lines.

mete will never be of ekholm caliber but who knows...in Nashville maybe the change of scenery and coaching staff helps him and he can finally thrive in a top 4 role. nashville makes out with a younger dman, prospect, picks and depth up front
