Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 3, 2021
Published: Apr. 3, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
How does this look? Creates a bit more of a scoring 3rd line while it could also be responsible defensively. The 4th line becomes a line that can play 11-13 minutes a night. Unlikely the Jets make the ekholm deal, and likely won’t spend their first anywhere else. Seems like a Chevy thing to do, just out of left field.

What 5 teams do you think are on Perreault's no trade list?

If Ottawa is one of them, this doesn't go through.

I know he’s in protocol, and I know he spoke about not waiving. But if they presented him with the chance to go to Winnipeg, where he just built a brand new house he might consider it. If he doesn’t Jets can target Savard and pay a bit more.

Considering he said he's not waiving for any trade I doubt it

Yeah that was the one hiccup with this. Honestly Ottawa is probably on the list, but let’s just say for arguments sake they aren’t. Him and his wife are both from Quebec and they’d be close to home.

Not to crap on your post but Hamonic won't waive for a couple reasons, Maurice won't let go of Lowry at 3C and don't see the Jets trading Perreault at this point.

Jets should not trade for Hamonic until the Covid fiasco with the Canucks is resolved and he waives his NMC by April 12th.

If you want Hamonic, I recommend signing him in the offseason.

It’s all just fantasy. I figured hamonic might not waive, just go after Savard.

This would be chevys trade, not maurices, so Maurice would have to figure out how the lines would work with tierney. Maurice loves vets, doubt he’d even consider the 4th line as the 4th.

Agreed on perreault, just figured I’d try a scenario where they upgrade their forward depth for once.

He won’t even waive anyways, I figured as much before I made the post. Jets just go after Savard instead.

I don’t see the issue tho. Perreault is expiring this year so just put him on the taxi squad. And you’re only adding 1.75 mill with Tierney. Are y’all that close to the cap?

As a Sens fan, I like this trade for a few reasons.

Logan Brown is worth either a former 1st round pick that is struggling to play in the NHL or a 2nd round pick.

I made a post on what Logan Brown is worth earlier this year and he's worth a lot less than a fresh 1st round pick.

Tierney for Perreault is a trade that should make ownership happy because Tierney is due over 4 million next year and Perreault is a pending UFA.

Letting Perreault walk in the off season frees up a roster spot for a promising prospect like Shane Pinto.

Also, the Sens in this trade are getting a prospect that has an Ottawa connection and might want to stay in Ottawa and play for the Sens organization long term.

Ottawa accepts smile

No but I saw your post and was like, I like tierney and brown 😂

Our first will be late, in a weaker draft. I hate Lowry as 3C so I figured hey let’s kill two birds with one stone. Bolster our forward depth while moving Lowry down to 4C where he belongs.

Really helps both sides IMO. Wpg bolsters forward depth, while Ottawa sheds some $ and grabs a local prospect and a 1st.

I hope they get Savard. I think Hamonic would have been a solid addition, maybe next season.

I agree, would like to see the Savard pickup. I’d also be interested in the Jets trading for Oleksiak.

I don't know much about Oleksiak, other than he is the brother of an Olympic champion.

I know that Hamonic has health concerns with his kid but I think the reason he really won't waive is that is he really going to make any more money on his next contract if he has a good playoff run with a team?
I doubt it and if he gets a significant injury he probably screwed himself out of getting one last decent contract, he probably already knows what Van is willing to offer him and that's likely where he signs in the offseason.

Slightly different RHD idea, what about acquiring Montour or Vatanen and put one on the 2nd pair with Forbort and move Pionk up with Morrissey??

Maurice actually put Hayes at 4C, I'm sure that's where Tierney would end up.. 😂.. He'd be some good depth though and who knows, maybe Lowry prices himself out of town and Tierney is good to have around, I like getting Logan Brown, think he'll put it altogether on another team, could be a great pickup for the Jets.

Matty Perreault has earned this playoff run whatever it ends up being with the Jets, think that's how management sees it anyway.

Maybe it’s DeMelo, kovacevic and a 1st for Tierney and Brown then? Ottawa doesn’t want to take more cap back, but they’re saving 500k this year and next, then have 2 more years of demelo. Those 2 years would be during profitable years with increased revenue, so that would be offset.

I like Matty P a lot, just didn’t know what other bad deal could go back to Ottawa.

I’m sure Tierney would end up at 4C LOL. But he would be great forward depth, and yes maybe Lowry prices himself out.

You’re probably right about hamonic. He likely signs in VAN.

I don’t mind Montour or Vatanen. I still think Savard is the guy though.

He’s big, can play mean, can skate and pass. He honestly reminds me of what Stanley is going to become. He could play with Morrissey if he went to his offhand, but he’d be perfect with pionk.

I like Oleksiak but do you think he's needed with Stanley and Forbort in the lineup?

Oleksiak was traded for a 4th round pick twice, too rich for Chevy's blood I guess.. Lol

Evolving Hockey percentile ranks for Oleksiak:
Last season: Overall 67th percentile, Offense 20, Defense 97
Last 3 seasons: Overall 72nd percentile, Offense 48, Defense 93

He won't be cheap next season.

I mean, I think Oleksiak could play with Morrissey if you slide josh to his offhand. Also haven’t we been wanting more size for so long. I still think they’re lacking that mean net front presence in the top 4.
