Fixing the blue jackets

Created by: Friendly_Cannon
Team: 2020-21 Columbus Blue Jackets
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 3, 2021
Published: Apr. 3, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Literally play your dam players. It’s pathetic at this point. Jon is done and he needs to be gone. Not in 20 games, now. Start the next generation of this team now. This is pathetic. We deserve to loose. Every game we win now is in spite of this coaching staff.

I don’t care that roslovic is playing bad defense. Fine. Bury him with defensively minded players like Jenner. Just play him. When we can’t buy a goal unless it’s a lucky bounce infront of bob we can’t generate and we take one of our most creative players out. It’s asinine.

Implement the new system now. It’s never too early. Have the new person come in and start their system so by the time training camp starts the players have an idea.

For an org fighting the “we’re not cheap we’re just unlucky” narrative I find it pathetic they let this rot continue to happen.

Believe me I’ll fight that we’re not a cheap team like many assume. I believe we offered bread man a 13x8 year deal. And Dubois a 8x8 year deal. But when we won’t let go of a coach that’s doing more harm than good, it makes any fair minded person waiver on their values towards any team.

The Jets played their youngsters in 2015-16 and 16-17. They let them learn from their mistakes without fear of being benched immediately and forever. That was two years of no playoffs but then it began to click in 17-18. If ownership, GM and the coach are on the same page it can work.

I doubt torts is fired this season, there isn’t really a great replacement for him available now, wait until the day after the season and get someone then, I’m thinking Travis Green from Vancouver could be an option depending on how Vancouver finishes, well they have to finish first.

Do you think Gallant or Boudreau would be good?

Gallant sure, but I’d highly doubt he comes back to Columbus. Boudreau and torts are too similar IMO, the team needs a change of style.

Throw big money at Rod Brind'Amour, as his contract is up at the end of the season and reportedly makes only $600k

BUF is just licking it's chops waiting for CBJ to fire Torts so they can snatch him up.
CBJ was a joke before he got there. He did a lot with very little. Lots of people are ungrateful for that. I don't think the organization is. There are a lot of guys in the league who want to get paid then skate around and play pond hockey and not really play as a team. It pisses them off that Torts expects accountability and wants them to buy into a system.
You can just see the fate of this team written on the wall. Torts leave.....the team turns to BUF. No organization, the team doesn't care, mailing it in, what difference does it make hockey.
This is why CBJ is reluctant to remove Torts. Even if there are conflicts. It's not like it's the first time there have been conflicts.

this is the argument right. So what’s the middle ground. Torts is the dictator? Or the players play pond hockey. No coach In the nhl let’s there players play pond hockey and the systems employed from coach to coach aren’t much different. It’s about how you handle your players. In the locker room and on the ice. If your constantly yelling at your guys how much confidence are they gonna have when they are offensively minded.

I’m forever great full for torts. I hope there’s a ceremony for him when he retires. He took thjs team from a joke to a threat to some of the best teams in the league. However this team isn’t built for his style. It’s time.

But to imply that any team would allow their team to go play pond hockey is kinda lazy. ngl. Who plays pond hockey in any serous league.(nhl ahl khl) The players know that there are standards to playing in the nhl. If they don’t on more than 4 teams there usually out of the league. There are other ways to get to players motivated than to scream and shout and demand players to fit a certain style.

Not overly familiar with the Blue Jackets ownership. Would they tolerate a rebuild? Do they micromanage? Do they have deep pockets?

From what the media has said they typically say out of hockey matters but give jarmo all the money he needs to make big signings. (Example being panarin for 13x8 years.)
The rebuild thing is a different story. Im sure they want jarmo to right the ship quick. With the assets available to him.

That is good ownership, spend when you need to and let the pros you hired do their jobs.
