Ok, who are you pushing down to the 3rd pairing on the left side? Rielly Muzzin or Ekholm? The fact hes not a 3rd pairing dman doesnt matter when hes a 3rd pairing dman on this team. OP is paying a fortune for a guy who is going to log less than 15 minutes a game. The cost benefit analysis doesn't line up any fashion you want to put it.

It'd be a luxury to have Ekholm but then he gets claimed by Seattle anyway. A rental like Savard makes more sense in my mind. Plus NSH thinks they are in the playoff hunt, lol. Dallas will come out of their slump and crush everyone for that 4th spot.

Unless Muzzin or Rielly, or Brodie or Holl get injured.

I think NASHVILLE takes that trade. Two solid prospects, one quite good, definitely an NHL player and a 1st. Once they realize they aren't in it they take that.

I think Ekholm is going to Boston or Winnipeg though. Makes more sense for those two teams to overpay a bit since they might be able to hang onto him in the offseason too.

All of those teams should he sellers. If you aren't in the top 4 you are a bad team. That being said Savard would be an upgrade (maybe) over Bogosian and that's it. He's not really worth what it would cost to acquire.b

Better trade all our future picks and all prospects for Eichel then, just in case Matthews gets hurt. This is like buying volcano insurance. Sure we've been healthy so far and if someone does get hurt we are confident in the guys behind us to do their job but just in case let's lose a lot of futures just in case someone gets injured.

No, this trade is not worth it. Point being it'd be nice to have another defensive body if it can be acquired. Clearly this price is not worth it but its the playoffs and I'd rather have the Leafs not having to rely on Sandin or Liljegrin in case of injury.
