Not horrible. The Philly trade seems a bit convoluted.

    Flyers accept.

Sabres accept if you switch out Abramov for a goalie.

In this trade, Toronto is giving Buffalo a fresh 1st round pick for this year's draft in exchange for Taylor Hall when nobody else would.

If Ullmark is not resigning with Buffalo, you take what you can get for him.

I did say that Abramov should be switched out for a goalie to make it ideal for Buffalo.

Two problems- i dont assume that hall wont return a first, so i further dont assume its an overpay. The market decides, and gms tend to do stupid things when they see a player that can help them get to the next level. And if a prospect is coming back as part of a hall/ullmark deal, we need the best prospect that we can possibly get. The goalie situation would have to be resolved in the off season regardless. There would be no point watering down the return just to get a duster to help us finish in last place.

Sabres will not move these players together and limit the return. They will work to try and resign Ullmark. If it is clear that is not something he is willing to do by the deadline the Sabres would move him separately and maximize the return.

He will resign though, he has no reason not to. He'd be the #1 goalie, would be paid well, and wouldn't have to move his family

The Flyers don't accept. We have no interest in Kerfoot. We have Couturier, Hayes, Patrick, Frost, and Laczynski in our around the NHL roster at centre, plus Giroux is back playing there and quietly having a strong year. If we move Laughton it'll be for a haul on our terms, not giving up more picks and cap space than we get in return (plus a nothing prospect).

Toronto aren't going to be the only team interested in Laughton, someone will pay straight up picks. I'd strongly suspect we'll get a late 1st with conditions or a 2nd and 3rd especially if we retain salary.
