Taking Ducks and Isles offers beats 1-for-1

Description
Not a fan of playing against Vrana in the division, especially on the team that hired WSH's old coach and swept WSH out of the 2020 playoffs, but if WSH doesn't take that Isles deal, why wouldn't Anaheim?

If Laviolette wants Rakell, that's no reason for MacLellan to leave an offer of Bellows and another prospect on the table.

This is a steal for the isles think you can get better value than essentially a 1 2 and 4

Islanders take that and run.

Ducks probably accept as well.

There’s no chance the caps trade Vrana to the isles

I don't really like that part of it. But would you really pay Bellows and Ho-Sang to have the Ducks trade him there, instead?

You're following these Vrana threads pretty close. I have to ask: what do you think the Sens would offer?

edit: or if they're keeping their focus on guys under 20, where do you think Vrana lands?

Vrana stays with Washington until the Capitals are no longer cup contenders IMO.

I don't think Ottawa trades for Vrana but I wouldn't mind if Ottawa gave up Erik Brannstrom + San Jose's second for him.

It was basically what Ottawa got for Mark Stone and with Brannstrom further along in his development, I think that's fair.

The Islanders benefit from the Vrana trade a lot more because he helps them win a cup now.

The pieces that Washington are getting in return are futures and with Vrana gone, they leave a hole in their lineup when they should be pursuing another cup win this season.

Also, Josh Ho-Sang is radioactive :/

Nice. Brannstrom is definitely coming along. That's a better value offer than the above, but WSH has its best prospect depth at LHD. Even if Brannstrom might be slightly better than Alexeyev, Fehervary, Siegenthaler, or Nardella, how many spaces can WSH open up at LHD behind Orlov, Dillon, Kempny, and Chara? That might have to include a side deal of, say, Lucas Johansen (edit: and Toias Geisser) for a forward bust or three off Belleville.

I would be veeeery hesitant to trade Vrana to a division rival. If the Caps are gonna trade him, trade him out west (like we did for Burakovsky). I'm still not convinced he's getting moved. The two healthy scratches are probably more for sending a message than anything, and hopefully Vrana gets a chance to play again on Tuesday.

Makes sense. But it would make that rivalry even more interesting, if they offered something that was enough to change Washington's mind about that.

As a side note, I wonder if they'd offer Bellows for Lucas Johansen.

And I think that probably some Western Conference team could make a huge offer for Vrana if they want to win it all this year. West coast teams with Czech centers that are just outside the playoffs are SJ and Dallas, but I'm not sure either is sure enough that they can make the playoffs to make a big offer. Still, that uncertainty makes their upcoming picks potentially pretty valuable to WSH, even in a weird draft. I'm curious whether bigger Vrana offers will appear after Hall gets dealt, or whether Vrana is seen as better and more valuable than Hall, and teams just don't want to pony up enough for a top LW at the deadline.
