No way Seattle takes an 8m Burns and his term.
Can't the Sharks just spend 6m on a winger, and keep their picks? Of course with Burns, you don't have a 6m to spend.

He's still a solid contributor though.

Gambrell is a young, middle 6 center and a 2nd in a draft that's expected to be great carries a lot of value.
We could, but they wouldn't be as good as Olofsson or Reinhart.

burns is a burden at this point. 8 million until 40, one of the worst contracts in the league

Not nearly enough for burns contract.

Detroit got a 2nd for one year of Staal

It’s really not though. Guy still playing 25+ mins a night of quality two way hockey. If Burns is exposed, Seattle takes him probably for free because he puts butts in seats and gives you a face of your early franchise. Not really anyone else out there that they’d be able to build that roster around from that standpoint. That said, doubt DW puts his top pair workhorse out there for exposure, and assuredly doesn’t spend a bottom 6 center and 2nd rounder to do so.

Don't think you're looking reality. Maybe if Burns had a year left on his contract, Seattle would take but for four years that's debatable. Seattle isn't selecting the best player available from every team, gee they couldn't afford 31 5m players....a 150m cap hit.

If Sabres do that other deal they might as well do the Burns deal too if you are trading Reinhart and Olofsson for picks then you might as well add Eichel and Ullmark to Hall and Montour and the Sabres wont get out of last place for 3-4 years anyways.

It really is. How many more years left? You're thinking of the now, not the future
