Grubauer takes that contract from Colorado. Buffalo would have to beat Binnington's contract....

Even then, why would anyone want to go to Buffalo right now?

I mean, nobody thought they'd sign Taylor Hall, and voila! Not saying that Grubby takes that contract, because it's a $1-1.5 mil shy, but assuming that nobody will sign in Buffalo because they suck is a bit ridiculous, given that there are only so many teams with any sort of cap space. Money can absolutely buy you happiness.

The better question is: Is it the right move for them to spend what is, in all likelihood, $6+ mil on a goalie, especially when your team looks like that?

I don't think anyone was offering Hall the money he wanted or term

That's sort of my point...all they have to do is outbid other teams. When it was clear that nobody was keen on offering term, he still managed to catch $8 mil, in an offseason where Mike Hoffman made half of that.

I always got the sense that it was the top tier guys that jerk buffalo around. The middle tier would reluctantly sign here for 1m or so above market. Its still not great, overpaying for the middle tier gets you okposo for 6x6. Hopefully the rutherford rumors are true, and he does indeed get a no interference clause from ownership. It wont fix things overnight, but actually having hockey men making hockey decisions should make us better, which cant hurt for bargaining.

Yeah, having an actual adult in charge would be a smart first step. I will never understand why the Pagula's think they can manage a hockey team, instead of hiring the right people to do the job right. Honestly, there should be a lineup of players who want to play with Eichel.

There is a minimum of 7 teams all competing for halls services. I would take a 1st and bellows right now and be done.

I think Hall also proves that going to Buffalo right now just isn't a good time.

I don't know. He's got about 8 million reasons to accept the fact that he's currently on a $hitty team, plus, he also managed to get a NMC attached, so at the end of the day, he gets the pick of the litter for where he'll end up. Not the worst scenario for a player, IMO. Play on crappy team for 4 months, join a contender for the rest.
