      Quite insane if that's true. The value above seems much higher than Weber's at the time.

      Magnifique. I imagine Canadiens with Draisaitl and Klefbom. Maybe, Canada could have a possibility to bring the cup to the country...

      They chose the return of Weber over that? I don't know if I believe that

      Edmonton reportedly declined it, and it's understandable

      Obviously the Oilers GM at the time said no.

      @SevenLeg

      Make a part 2 to this. If this trade happened, it would have changed so much for the Habs (Drafting KK in 2018, Drouin trade, etc). I want to see how much the Habs would have changed

      Unfortunately I don't have much time hahah. But the lines above show how they would fit in the lineup.

      Actually I saw the article as well but it said that that was the Ask from MB preferred Nurse over Klefblom and the Oilers balked at adding Nurse and the deal fell apart.

      For everyone wondering that's been widely investigated and most of the noise coming out of that was;
      The deal was a done deal for both parties before the draft started but with "*" aside of it, Edmonton was targeting Puljujärvi whereas Montreal wanted to pick PLD with the 4th overall pick in that draft but when Columbus f*cked **** up and picked PLD the deal was then canceled from both side of the table as Puljs (Which was a concensus 3rd overall pick) fell to EDM and PLD was gone for Montreal.
      Please remember that Chiarelli was the GM at that time so yes it's possible that he agreed to this, Drai was a great prospect and Klefbom was having a "meh" injury riddled season but still a top 4 prospect.

      BONUS STUFF: For those who like those kind of rumours it seems like Philadelphia offered a 1st round pick, Samuel Morin and Sean Couturier for Subban. Don't know what or who pulled the plug but whatever, it's out there.

      Yeah I've read those rumors as well a while back (don't remember where), but as ColonelX has written, the deal fell apart due to CBJ picking PLD.

      Man things would have been so different... Patches might still be captain, Sergachev would probably still be with the Organization....

      THIS IS THE REAL STORY.

      Subban was going to be traded for the 4th overall to draft PLD and Bergy turned to Nashville after CLB picked him up at 3rd.

      It had nothing to do with this Draisaitl BS.

      Ok, so what I think happened is that MB thought his team was better than it actually was at the time. And he made it clear that he wouldn't trade PK for a package that didn't fetch a #1 d-man. UNLESS it was to EDM and he could draft PLD.

      Now, what we can learn from that is: trading in the NHL is not an exact science and it often comes down to which team has the best pro scouting department! Can you imagine being the one telling your GM: Yeah, that PK guy will be a Norris candidate every year for the next 10 years... Or... Nah, that Leon Draisaitl guy is a bust...

      Anyways, it turns out that PK for Weber is a pretty fair deal after all. The day of the trade, I thought MTL should have received a 2nd rounder to offset the age difference... but it's no deal-breaker!
