Fair point. Hendrix lapierre Is a center who was projected to go top ten before his injury. Not sure how he lines up with CBJ’s window.
Washington would have sufficient cap space to resign Laine after losing one our top 4 defensemen to Seattle.

And these exact comments are why Columbus shouldn’t be trading Laine unless someone trades for him at a higher value than what he’s playing. Plus torts isn’t going to be back in Columbus next year. Also I said top 6, Dowd isn’t that. Hes probably the best 4c in the league but he isn’t top 6.

Cool. We agree that there will be no Dowd for Laine deal taking place. Great. smile

Also, just so I understand, are you saying I'm undervaluing a power play specialist wing with a recent 70 point season by saying that he alone isn't enough to trade for a center with a recent 84 point season, who also pretty recently led the NHL playoffs in points? Because whether or not age is enough to get their trade values close, the Caps are all in, and have only four centers, so they'd need a top six center in that deal. Need one right away. Not want, like Columbus kind of wants a top six center, eventually, even though they're probably rebuilding through the draft this year, and can find a center over the offseason. Need. Is Columbus willing to talk Roslovic or Jenner? No. Columbus fans shoot down every single offer on either. Domi? Maybe. And with no cap space, WSH has to give back Oshie on that. Oshie who's got three times Domi's points/game this year. On pace for 60 vs 20. And you'll probably say that's still an unfair trade because Oshie is a grown up professional athlete, while Domi still gets carded for sparklers. But from the Caps side they're giving up two guys on pace for 119 points to get two guys on pace for 69 points. Who are younger. Ouch.

Also, here's why OP's offer is an overpay: http://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20182019&seasonTo=20202021&gameType=2&position=L&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=evGoals&page=0&pageSize=100

I'd be reaaaally hesitant to move out a first and Lapierre. With the cap staying flat for the foreseeable future, I'd want to keep younger assets that'll be on ELCs available in the pipeline instead of signing Laine.

I'd be okay moving these guys for Laine as long as his contract demands are reasonable. As much as I love Vrana, Laine has much more upside. Lapierre gives me Kuznetsov vibes with his style of play, always deferring to passing even when he should obviously take the shot. The first round pick and Panik are both expendable IMO. Panik is invisible every night and the first is a crapshoot in this draft. We have plenty of C prospects in the system and as long as we keep our 2022 draft picks, I don't think we'll have any issue keeping the pipeline filled with prospects.
