I'll take Goodrow, Gourde, Coleman, and maybe bias on my part and you put that line together bias on your part. However, I've seen the Gourde line be an intrical part to a Stanley Cup Win!!!

I agree, that is a really good third line. Laughton would be the centre though for sure and Foligno would play on the wing.

Mikheyev is NOT a top six forward let alone a top line forward. He is all lungs and reach with no hands at all. Tried, failed. Next.

It is a cool trade idea but, it does not address the needs of this team to the level that the needs need addressing IMO.

For Columbus to even come close to considering, eliminate the retention on Foligno as a starting point.

his injury really hurt him. but also he should have a lot more goals. dude gets robbed every night it seems. hyman is the top line winger even if advertise on a different line he still gets the 19 minutes agame

I say Hyman-Laughton-Foligno would be a better LW-C-RW combo

Some guys just are not as adept at scoring. Mikheyev is one of those guys. A for effort and I do like the player. Just not in the top six. That is not in his DNA. Hands of stone, injury or no injury.

Why would a team not retain at the deadline to make a trade work? They can ask for more for it, but with this right cap world refusing to retain will likely mix deals

He was good last year. And even tho its a useless stat. Undefeated this year when he scores and it counts.

I just don't think it's fair for Columbus when, after this trade is made, the Jackets assume a cap hit of over 6 million while Toronto assumes a cap hit of less than 3 million.

Foligno is the team leader of Columbus and has shown some interest with re-signing with Columbus if he's not traded.

Kerfoot is a middle six forward under contract for at least 2 more years and has shown no signs of being a team leader in the NHL.

I'm of the opinion that, in this trade, Columbus retains no more than 1 million in salary on Foligno, maximum.

In that case, the cap hit would be the same for the Jackets as it is for the Leafs.

Who cares about fairness? It's retaining for 1 month to make the cap work at the deadline. People don't have cap room so to make a trade work you have to retain. If it were multiple years left on the retained player I totally get you.

(For the record I would not do the trade as the leafs. I'd rather a 27 year old kerfoot to a 35 year old Foligno)
