Finally a post that makes sense......I am not a big fan of Anderson anymore .....but Leafs will be making a call on his recovery this week and I suspect he is going to be good to go for the playoffs and likey as back up for Campbell.....therefore no need to make any trades for a goalie and wasting prospects and picks.

My prediction if that the Leafs will be adding a depth defenceman and forward at trade deadline as an insurance policy for long playoff run......the Leafs team is looking good now and Keefe has figured out his 4 lines.

I am not at all opposed to getting Ulmark. I'm just not paying a 1st. Not really interested in giving up a 2nd. Campbell is the guy. If Andersen is done for the season then I would get a goalie but there are options that won't cost nearly as much as what people think Ulmark is worth. Who else even needs a goalie? Is there going to be a bidding war among contending teams for a backup? Because he isn't going to go to any contending team to be the starter at this point. So who would want him? Teams that are out of the playoffs? Why not just wait and try to get him in FA? So who are the potential suitors? I can think of literally 1 team, TO if Andersen is done for the year. What other goalies are available? Bernier, Wedgewood, Dell, Dubnyk, Miller, Rittich, just off the top of my head. So if there is 1 buyer and all these options, why would you pay a huge price for a guy who is going to be your 2G behind the guy who is 9-0?

Looks like it yup, I am not sure who they will pickup but some 7th defenceman and another forward is likely. Nothing major though. If Andersen is done for the year though, then I would get a goalie. But as I just mentioned there are a lot of options to backup Campbell

not sure if you were against it but riemer. depends on who the cans has as starter and backup. with andersen if hes hurt LTIR maybe. havent heard a update on him. if hes healthy at playoff time could use him. mind you campbell is stillnot 100% which is crazy. i think once again he got up slow tongiht. with the goalies you mentioned i only think bernier would be the one i would like. the rest i would rather hutch imo. he let in stinkers but hes still playing decent for his role

I think Galchenyuk's strong play and changed Dubas's thinking........he does not want to risk upsetting the chemistry of the team which is really look good the last couple of weeks......the entire team has bought into playing a team defence first.......I think a depth defenceman like Jordy Benn and another depth centre.....However, both Dubas and Keefe have full confidence in Robertson, Sandin, Lilijgren and Brooks as well.....so will not be shocked if he doesn't do much before deadline and saves his powder for the offseason.

Buffalo has stated that Ulmark is 1 of 2 untouchables on the roster... isnt going anywhere

At the very least, both Bernier and Riemer know this market and won't be surprised if Dubas does trade for one of em.

My question to you guys is, if Campbell has you believing he can be the starter, do you aquire a goalie just to rest Campbell and heal from his injury?

Of course the danger is that you keep playing him and he doesn't fully heal and then in the playoffs he's playing every other night.

Which all makes paying a huge price for Ulmark silly. When negotiating trades you try to find a position of strength to operate from. Otherwise you won't get a good deal. Buffalo is last in the league. Their best goalie is a pending UFA in his prime who very likely will want to go somewhere else next season. So what options do they have? Ask for a 1st plus from the one team that may want a goalie for the playoffs? What if they say no? Force him to sign on your team that is going to rebuild again? Not likely, so if you don't maximize the return in season you are looking at trading his rights after the expansion draft and that will be a smaller return than what you are going to get now.

Until free agency

He wouldn't arrive for a week so unless it's Rittich it's not really an option, Andersen is likely back prior too then.
