I would say yes for NYI, but would the Blues say yes if we add Bellows and you change Hoffman to Schwartz?

Unlikely - I believe the Blues likely want to resign Schwartz after the season. Too valuable to the blues as a two way player to lose for a draft pick/prospect.

If you’re expecting to get 1st from teams, you’re going to have to take salary back - especially for a team like MTL who’s at the cap ceiling. Isles have some flexibility with Lee on LTIR.

Canes would have interest in a player like Sanford. They are also looking for a 3rd pairing RHD.

Montreal says Yes please although you could give us Dunn and a 2nd and keep Blais as we have enough forward depth even with Gally sidelined until the playoffs.

In case you didn't hear Gally has a broken thumb and is out week to week so him and Chiarot could be LTIR as well

In case you didn’t hear, Chiarot is skating and Gally is week to week. LTIR isn’t just used for whenever teams want.

Hmm yeah makes sense. Instead of the 1st would you do Bellows and a 2nd and 4th? I don't think we're going to give up a 1st round pick after not having one last season.

I didn't know that a broken hand prevents you from skating? When did the hand migrate south to the foot and leg area? Yes Chiarot is skating but the prognosis was 6-8 weeks! Gallagher while being listed as week to week will likely miss just as much time, and last time I checked the playoffs were less than 5-6 weeks away. LTIR can be used by any team so long as the player will miss 24 days or 10 games. Chiarot is closing in on 10 games and should surpass that mark this week while Gally will likely pass that mark next week or the week after. Therefore they will both be LTIR eligible see below from CBA.

When a player has an injury of which they are expected to miss a minimum of 10 NHL games and 24 days in the NHL season, the team can place them on long term injured reserve (LTIR). LTIR can be used to exceed the salary cap. LTIR is a very complicated aspect of the NHL operations and the vast majority of details are not specified in the CBA.

When a player is placed on LTIR, their cap hit remains on the teams cap payroll and it continues to count as it always did. It also does not provide the club with additional cap-space savings that can be banked for future use while the team operates above the salary cap. Instead, LTIR provides relief if the club's averaged club salary, or payroll, begins to exceed the upper limit. The amount of relief that the club receives is calculated on the day the player is placed on LTIR. There are three equations that are used to determine the LTIR relief, the first, the basic equation, can be used during the season and during the off-season. The second, the training-camp equation, can be used on the final day of the off-season in preparation for the first day of the season. The third formula is used when the team already has a player on LTIR.

When a player is deemed fit to play, the team must activate them.

Congrats - if you plan on having Gally or Chiarot back at all this season you better have that cap space.

Read it again Chiarot is not expected back until the last week of the regular season barring no setbacks. Based on that and the fact that Gally has basically the same injury as Chiarot, he will not be back before the playoffs. So it is not unreasonable to assume that at least Gally will miss the last of the regular season and Chiarot may as well. Thank you for your concern about our situation though!

He is near to a return. He's doing better than expected. A return in like 2 weeks would be really possible.

I've seen it on multiple media outlet like danslescoulisses and they say on rds that he is in advance compared to what they initially thought. I believe it's also what Bergevin said

No MB said 6-8 weeks cause he had to have it surgically repaired, but he believes it will be closer to 6 weeks

There is one major note in that article that you are overlooking. Chiarot still has not taken a single shot, he has been skating and working out but not shooting or stickhandling. Skating is the easy part and you can't really tell how he is progressing until he starts shooting and twisting his wrist. If there is any pain or discomfort in the wrist he could be delayed in his return. While everything seems to be progressing a head of schedule (always a good thing) we won't truely know anything until he takes that first set of shots. Hopefully they get him shooting before the end of the week so we have enough time to move on a d man if he is not progressing as well as they feel.

True but I mean gotta trust Renaud Lavoie. He's so accurate and a really good insider... lol. But yeah
