    Why not protect Binnington?

    Also, you know that Seattle can draft Schwartz and negotiate a contract with him, correct? It would be unlikely, but it’s a risk.

    Habs would be down for that trade! With Gally out for a few weeks, we would have the cap space, but I would still send them a player back to free some cap space.

    It would likely be the same scenario as u guys w dougy. Probably a deal in place but it won't happen until after the draft. So u save the protection spot

    Theoretically possible, true...don’t think that is the way this will play out. However, the sample size under the current rules is so small (just the Vegas draft) that there isn’t a great track record to say how these things play out.

    After watching his play this season, I don’t know if they’d take him with that extension. Also, there should be plenty of capable 1A 1B goalies available in the draft.

    There's no way any of us could ever know. But I think it's kinda how the caps/oshie did it in the Vegas draft.
