Nyi get rid of komarov’s contract for next season and give themselves cap space to resign beauvillier and pelech and make some additions if theyd want to in free agency . Get a fabbri who’s got his career back on track for these playoffs as well as next season at only 1.475 cap hit

I like the theory, but I don't see DET covering contract past this year, esp if they're gonna take on another year of Uncle Leo. I think NYI would rather look at a Glendening / Ryan opportunity, with no cap hit next year. They currently have just over 6 mil in cap space. Clearing Leo makes it just over 9. They have the 2 guys you mentioned, plus Sorokin, all of whom have Arbitration rights, so that $$ could dwindle really fast, and adding even half of Fabbri's contract will affect it. I think their only in the market for pure rentals.

I think 9 mill is enough to sign beauvillier/pelech/sorokin , having a player like fabbri at 1.5 who can get 50 pts is huge . I personally think he’d fit in nice there . As for detroit we have nothing but cap space , i think we’d eat 4 mill for a 1st and 2nd since we’re rebuilding

Just be careful, cap space disappears real quick with just a couple overpayments and all your youth coming due at the same time.....Just look at the position Arizona and Anaheim are in....

Thats assuming all your prospects hit though so thats a nice problem to have, ducks have good prospects and theyll get nice hauls for rackell, manson so i dont see that as being a bad thing

I don't think 9 will be enough for us with the 3 of Pelly, Soro, and Beau all due. Pelly should be ~4.5, Soro @ 4-5 (look at demko), and Beau at 4. Seattle has to take someone so ideally that's Bailey which is another 5M but a roster spot to fill with MDC maybe? I'll say the numbers work. As an isles fan id support this move but it cost the rags a 2nd for 8M so this is a bit of an overpay, drop the first to a second and that's close to fair but isles still overpay a bit.

Man i would be so shocked if sorokin got anything close to 4.5 mill , he only has 13 nhl games experience , can you guys sign him x1 and hed still be an rfa? If so i think that might what happens and then you sign the longer deal depending how he does and maybe more money leaves the cap after 2021-2022 (id have to check)

You could be right i just cant see him with so little nhl games getting that money ... maybe 2.5? Demko just signed this year with like 60+ games , still not alot but way more than 13

I could be wrong but i dont know if yzerman gives up fabbri at 1.475 for an extra year for like a 50th pick hes been surprisingly good, alot of wings fans wouldnt trade him but i would in a second with us rebuilding . You got clutterbuck, leddy and pulock who will be ufa’s in after 21-22 so maybe signing sorokin short teem might be for the best

Going in with him as your #1 and trading varlamov and replacing him with a backup at 2.5 might also be something lou looks at
