Carolina gets a RH D that their GM wanted and a 3rd round pick as a supplemental. Minnesota gets a 1st round pick in a deep draft, probably a smartest player from the last year draft and a great, tall, heavy and reliable blue liner in Nikishin.

Not sure why the canes would give up 2 good forward prospects and a first for a d man who wouldn't even play with the d depth we have. whos he playing over? not slavin, dougie, pesce or skjei. not slowing bean's development to play him and not taking fleury out

Actually, I did not get why Waddell even mentioned his wish to trade for a RHD considering the fact that Canes have one of the best blue lines in the league. Also, Nikishin is a D man. But that desire was mentioned and thus all the options have to be examined)))

I think this trade makes a lot of sense in the off-season if we lose Hamilton. Dumba would be a great replacement and partner for Slavin. I’d almost be tempted to try and flip dougie for a top forward and do this deal at the deadline. Dumbas younger and cheaper and has term. Dougie’s contract could get real ugly at the back end given he wants Pietro money
