Rangers would never do that. They would rather trade Strome for Byfield, Lundell type player to work with kids.

He’s been great. Hasn’t needed Panarin to have an impact this season, which was a concern last season. I see no reason to move on from him rn

IF we are trading him for a first, it is probably going to a contender so probably in the late 20's for a first. Would rather just keep him, seems to be clicking well right now.

I think a good question is what do you pay him next summer? 6X6???? I have no clue.

Panarin has factored into 47% of the points Strome has this year. Last year Panarin factored in 54% of Strome's points. I'd pump the breaks on Strome not needing Panarin.

When Panarin was out, Strome had 9 points in 9 games without him.
This is an exhausting argument. Of course Panarin has factored into half of Strome's points - they play on a line together IN A TEAM GAME.

Honestly think you'd be better off just keeping Strome. Considering how well he's playing, he's more valuable for NYR than any other team in the league.

based on his performance, I would say he ~deserves~ to stay long term. but hockey is a business, so we will probably see him as buy low, sell high. jeff gorton is a mastermind so regardless of what he does I am confident it will work out

Keep him because it would cause a bigger problem with the Rangers center core. Also he would have more value at the 2021 TDL not the 2022

nearly half of those points came via the PP and when Panarin came back....

13G / 18Pts

^But please continue to think Strome doesn't need Panarin. For a guy whose so amazing, NYR fans seem to include him in a lot of trade proposals. I live right in the middle of Ranger country, so I get to see a lot of their games and many of my friends who are Ranger fans say the same thing, good complementary centerman.

no one called Strome amazing. Strome is exactly what he is made out to be, a decent 2C that takes bad offensive zone penalties and needs to work on his defensive side of the game.
it was simply stated that Strome still produces, with or without Panarin.
isn't it a byproduct of playing with elite players? elite players make everyone better...

pick a player on Boston, guarantee 50-60% of their points are directly correlated with someone else. so using your logic, without X player, Y player is just an OK hockey player...

^but please, continue to think that Panarin is the sole reason Strome has been a .75 PPG player since joining the Rangers.

Strome isn't a 2C, at least not on a contender. BTW here are Strome's seasons in New York

'18-'19: 0.52 PGP
'19-'20: 0.84 PGP
'20-'21: 0.95 PGP

Interesting that Strome's first year in New York he didn't have Panarin and his P/GP was significantly lower sarcasm

Kid with a career 0.42 P/GP suddenly see's his P/GP double with the addition of Panarin. You can point to a 9 game stretch all you want, I'll look at a larger sample size though

cheers

1st year in NY, he was playing on the 3rd line less than 16 minutes a night with Jimmy Vesey...
responsibility grows, production grows.

but again, isn't that what elite players do? make good players better?

They make players better yes and your making my point. Strome isn't a 2C without Panarin. Rangers shopped Strome this summer and no one came close to their asking price. That speaks volumes to how the rest of GM's view him.

that doesn't mean anything - shopping someone but not pulling the trigger doesn't place value.
maybe the Ranger's were valuing him too high, maybe GM's were concerned with what his next contract would cost and didn't want to trade an asset and not come to terms.

i'm simply saying, Strome is a good player and proving to be a good 2C.
half the leagues 2C's are good because they play with good players - you are hanging onto a false narrative for whatever reason.
you do you, have fun...

HAHAHA explain then why this past off-season NYR were trying to move Strome in every other deal? Because they were trying to sell high aka they know he's not as good as his number indicate. Keep trying to spin it anyway you want, the guy is a product of Panarin. The numbers support it and just because you want to live in a fantasy land doesn't mean its a false narrative. The Rangers were so confident in his game that they have him a 2yr deal and only bought 1yr of FA. They didn't even try to lock him up long-term which is a red flag. Who doesn't want to lock up a late 20's center that was playing at a 70pt rate? its not like those guy grow on trees. Again keep thinking what you want, but the evidence is there, you just choose to ignore it......just like I'm going to choose to ignore you smile

Strome is skilled, produces points w/wo bread, simply improving while at a steal 2x4.5m lol...get with the times.
Again, it's all about the cap. We need our 4th line totally revamped. Kids shouldn't be traded. Buch & Strome are our only tradables, between now & 23. Both are worth 4x5.3m, max mntc.
Should trade each+ for a Beecher/Beckman++.

Boston isn't giving up Beecher in a deal for Strome. Buch I could see though as he fills a need.

Fair enough, trade for needs. Yet watching every single game, despite what others may think they see, Strome is more important, consistent and useful. If it wasn't for the cap, we'd keep him/both.

I live right in the middle of Ranger country and watch the Rangers as much as I watch the Bruins. I (along with the my friends who are Rangers fans) have to agree to disagree on Strome.
