Description

This is what I think the Leafs will do. Something on these lines at least -

Get Glendening and Oleksiak as inexpensive depth pieces for a long playoff run.

Whole point is to add depth. Not trade Dermott also. So 2nd + none roster piece then.

Detroit is not retaining on Glendenning. We have more expensive contracts we need to use our retention spot on and we can get a 3rd for Glenny straight up.

So we get a depth defence for a depth defenceman. And pay more for a comparable player. That is awfully foolish, what happens when he struggles in his new environment playing a different system with a much lesser partner than he plays with now? Dermott is staying where he is, getting Oleksiak is a fine plan but it's a 7th defenceman situation to play if there are injuries.
